How would identify a female player guy/girl?

One 'study' does not help much in this area...

The studies were published in journals. The links were right there. I didn't dissect them but I'm also not quoting any conclusions from them. I have faith that academics can count in a sample size without needing a peer review or an expert in pyschology.

If you think the percentages are off then give me something besides "well in my guild we have X amount of females"... Otherwise, I'll use the study to say 25% of men play as females and 7% of females play as males.

It's not really wrong for someone to wonder what your sex is. Why all of a sudden is it wrong to want to know this? Why is it so bad that I DON'T want to marry a girl toon being played by some male in reality?

No, I don't go around asking every female toon if they are a guy in real life, I just assume they are a guy in real life. Sometimes I'll come across a toon who gives off a feminine vibe and I might assume they are female, but not usually.

Yes, I find it odd when a guy plays a female toon. No, I don't judge them for it, hell my two best friends play female toons. I tell them all the time I find it odd, but it doesn't bother me! To each their own. There really is nothing wrong with wanting to know that female toon player you've been cyber hitting on is a male or not. There is nothing wrong with wondering if that female toon you asked to marry you is a guy in real life.

Yes, I followed the links. You are not quoting conclusions as such, but you are leaning heavily on their conclusions. dissecting their report or study is not necessary to know that the sample size is small, the selection criteria are not rigorously explored and the methodology is not really elaborated upon.

Sample size has nothing to do with peer review or psychology it has to do with statistical validity, as does the selection method for the sample. Peer review is a process by which papers are reviewed by peers in the relevant field before publication to prevent 'bad' research from making it to journals and places like Slate.

The article you linked draws it's conclusions largely from the first study it provides a link to, and mentions the others in passing.

You dropped into the topic to state your opinion very strongly as if it were incontrovertible fact, and then when challenged provided one link who's primary source was a non peer-review journal article by journalism and Information sciences academics, not psychologists. Having faith in academics is all fine and well, assuming that they are at least in the correct field...

Why do you need to know? If you're marrying someone in-game and you're close enough that their real life sex would matter, I'd think you would know at that point. If you weren't that close, why would you care what their gender is? Marrying in-game is not tantamount to a real life relationship.

What is masculine? What is feminine? Your perspective seems to lean heavily on gender norms, which IS wrong.

By calling it odd, you are judging them for creating and playing as a female character. Are they supposed to play as male so that you don't accidentally mistake them as female when you "hit on" them and then feel silly about making a mistake?
