How would identify a female player guy/girl?

I'm a male playing a female character. And yeah I like to jump around at times

In my FC we have a whole bunch of females who play female characters. Some dress revealing, others don't. My Miqo'te is leveling so her gear is what I pick up along the way. I'll have a look at the glamour system later when I get to 50. I've seen some outfits along the way that I really like. And they are not revealing at all. But yeah, could opt for a scantilly clad beach bunny if I want to.

At any rate. I don't care if people play characters of their own gender, or prefer to play characters of the opposite sex. Let them play how they feel like it.

Sorry but this answer, I am a fangirl, and I fangirl over bishies, so of course I will make a bishie character and not a female character. I tried female character, but I changed back to a male character, because I like looking at my sexy elezen (before that my sexy miqo); and I think it's the same for males - of course they will prefer looking at their female characters: that doesn't mean they want to get breast implants and put some lipstick on, it means they want eyecandy... fandom man, it's fandom and ff14 is fanservice when it comes to this.

If that's the case fully immerse yourself in the game and find someone of your opposite sex irl and plays their same gender in their toon and get to know them. Far more enjoyable that way. Besides, isn't ffxiv meant to be a social game?

Most of the time even when i play rpg like dnd or vampire the masquerade i play male characters and i dont i have an avatar in front of me i still play male. It's about preference but also for me aside the eyecandy (like in movies i adore avengers and not just for dialogues but eyecandy) i have too much idiots irl around me if i want a decent game play without ppl hitting on me and the smexy toon is just a bonus. Aside fanservice is real - take that from an animanga fan. Its all about personal perspective.

Some of us just prefer the male armors and weapons to the sexualised female counterparts. After all, we lady dragoons have a silly hole cut out of the belly area. Even on my adorable little Lalafell the gear feels over sexual for females.

Coincidentally, this is why I play as a Lalafell and glamor all of my gear to something which can be both cute and modest at the same time. What I am curious to know is why you are so focused on players being their own gender. Surely the whole idea of having fun is to do it in your own way. Games are a form of escapism after all.

And just to end the discussion, for those of you who say it really doesn't matter. I'm sorry, it's more like you are saying, "it shouldn't matter". Because the fact is, there are more people who care at what you fit into, because it's easier, simpler. No matter how much you wish for your race, gender, etc to not matter, it does. You are categorized by what you have, do, and are. It hasn't changed and by the looks of things, not anytime soon. I applaud your valiant attempts at keeping things equal, and it's noble, but unfortunately it's not real. If it were, well, the world would be a different place, wouldn't it? A little off topic, but that's what it all boils down to. Keep it real.
