I think the Op main issue is he is more comfortable marrying the the girl character that own by girl IRL because he is straight.
I admit most of my character in other MMO are female except that race is not human or less human.
I am straight guy IRL but I'm not really enjoyed chatting with girl ingame and their character design are mostly out of my taste, I mostly enjoy chatting with dude in game because it's more joyful to me.
I more tend to fall in love with the character that designed by men than women, so for eternal bonding I'm not really concern as long my partner character is female and somehow I'm hoping that he is gay less awkward I think.
But I will not perform eternal bonding with my Lalafell because I'm not really comfortable with it.

The grammar/spelling is probably a stereotype of high school girls texting on their cellphone using abbreviations and such. It's probably one of the oldest internet stereotypes around. Same for emotes. And then it gets even more complicated when you mix people of different cultures, and none of that means anything anymore, except those who have only lived in and seen a homogeneous culture all their lives, then I guess we can't blame them for not realizing how big the world is. :3

Generally I find that the more mature (okay, the older) players care less about the sex of the person behind characters and make less generalizations and stereotypes. (By older I mean people in the 30s.) These people often also behave and talk in a very different manner.

In a way, online behavior is more representative of personality, having very little to do with the sex. So using the proper definitions, observing behavior can tell you the gender of a person, but it cannot tell you the sex of a person.

This reminds me of my old old old guild in WoW. Once our MT got tired of asking everyone whether they're ready, so he started saying "jump if you're ready". By the last boss of the raid everyone were jumping around crazy like rabbits on a high---and there were 3 female players in the raid at that time.

As for the op, the idea that "character represents yourself" itself is a debatable idea. Sure you can do it, but it'd be wise not to insist that this is the "right" way to play MMORPGs, because it's a belief that has no right or wrong, similar to how some religions say there's only one true God and every other religion are just "wrong".

Don't bring right or wrong into the discussion if you're really interested in what you claim: how behavior relates to a player's sex. But do talk about right or wrong by all means if you're trying to recreate a meaningless argument thread.

Slightly off track, but I have to say one of the funnier things regarding this topic happened to me back in 2.1.
I was doing some 8 man content with a new FC and they all wanted to get on mumble. At the time I was playing monk. I jump on, say "Hi guys!"
And the first response is,"Oh shit it's a girl."
Second response, "You are healing right?"
To which I respond, "No. I'm your dps."
I get a couple of laughs and another "oh shit." We finished what we were running but just goes to show you the stereotypes guys assume with female players.

I more comfortable chatting with male than female, because women are creatures with 1001 secrets, there is no reality in the games, all is just imagination even she is actual girl IRL.

Hmmm..... I'm over 30 and have been play MMO for long time, pretty sure I don't care less about gender here because their real life looks not 100% convincing as their character.

That is common in MMO, believe it or not in WoW one of the best pvper for 3v3 arena in my guild is girl, playing as a male undead warrior.
