This actually happens!?
What.
If that's the case, I'm the manliest creature in the history of online gaming. I jump around all the damn time, often even during fights.
On the other hand, most other players I see must be female.
I'd love to know what study this was - just out of genuine curiousity to read it myself o.o I love things like this...
Though, I'm apparently more of a guy than not, by that description o_O
Me: *runs around in circles, jumps in place continuously, jumps around at complete random, maybe swift-cast a holy in mid circle-jumping, proceed to circle or figure-eight till either buggering off someplace or finding a height to climb*
Rest of the FC: *Stands there and stares at the moving derpage*
Only time I'm not running around is if I'm tabbed, chatting, looking at menus or if in a dungeon/raid... I tend to curb that when amongst strangers (....if the tanks take too long to pull, I might spin in place, though...)
Same here. If we took that to the 'T' (which we kind of can't) the actual guys in my FC would be female and I'd be the only male o_O
FPS habit. Not something I would relate to only males tho, especially these days; but that's where the habit comes from.
Based on chat it's entirely impossible to tell the difference atleast.
That's what they want you to think.
But on a more serious note: don't generalize peoples attitudes/choice of words based on their gender. I think you'll be plenty surprised.
The only people I ever confirmed to be female were those I heard on voice chat. And in some other cases even with voice chat I could not tell for sure.
Not a single one of those ''girls preferences'' don't apply to me, and not a single one of those ''guys thingies'' apply to me.I have both in my roleplaying group... And frankly... One I knew from the start from the way he chatted. Guys tend to be more openly lewd or overtly sexual, females will be a bit more low key and subtle but they may laugh or contribute just as much.
Also with roleplayers it skews thing more, but I tend to notice males being more likely to use a lot of different hairstyles... Girls are more likely to try the new hairstyles in changing but tend to stick to one style mainly. Females tend to take a lot more care with their looks, ensuring classy combinations of color and style (they may also be gay men as females, but it's more likely they actually play a guy). Guys are more like complete the set, or go for an outlandish theme like pirate or classy Ninja or sexy cosplay. Girls justvtry to look good and coordinated.
So I guess I'm a girl after all.
Or gay.
Nooooooo stereotypes in there at aaaaaall. Nope.

I'm the opposite to you, I'm a guy playing a female character, most of the time being called a tom boy in chats and stuff because of the way I talk :?I'm a female playing a female character. I've been told that my use of proper grammar/spelling gives the impression that I'm a guy (seriously???), but my excessive use of emotes gives the impression that I'm a girl.![]()

As far as the... "men tend to jump around and women stand still" anecdote... I tend to run laps around my FC house while I'm bored, talking on voicechat, or waiting on a queue.
And when I'm bored or waiting for a dungeon, I go afk and chill on the FF XIV loadstone site.

Seems that I follow all the stereotypes of a guy playing a chick, I'm overtly sexual, I jump around endlessly, and I generally have my character dressed in really promiscuous clothes. That's kind of cool.
Yes this is true 90% of the time, I for one play a female character with more fully clothed look (Currently Lighting's gear, looking to change the pants) yet I'm Male
