Oh, yes. THIS is the summoner I've wanted to play. Definitely.

I'm not exactly expecting, but figure there's a chance that the SMN LB3 will make the full version of whatever Egi you're using drop down and use its big attack.

Even though you got to summon the normal versions of the avatars in XI, they could only use their "awesome" attack once every two hours (later adjusted to one hour), which was a necessary feature for balance, but also made it kind of silly to have the Mighty Leviathan floating behind you chipping away at a foe about as effectively as a pet crab.
I think the LB3 Full-Summon is the way to go. Good idea.

Posted this before, seen this posted before, you're posting it now. As you said, the assets already exist, it's just a good ideaA fairly easy implementation of the SMN LB would be to summon the full version of an actual primal (based on which egi the SMN has out at the time) simply to do their signature attack as in their trial. All the assets are already there so compared to the other jobs it would be fairly simple and is more in line with what a lot of summoners actually want from the job.
They could, of course, also give us a unique summon just for the LB but that would require a quest to unlock it in my opinion, since all of our summons are obtained via defeating and syncing with the aether of that primal..

XI's SMN burn party go!
Seriously though when I got to summon Ramuh in the FFXV Demo my jaw hit the floor, I got goose bumps and my thought was "THIS IS A FINAL FANTASY SUMMON"...I don't really get that with FFXIV, -egis are lame, summoners are lame (no offense), but what I mean is they don't feel like a final fantasy summoner. What I think they should do to fix this is take away summoner from the arcanist branch and make it its own thing. Give SCH those abilities that were exclusive to SMN (like Fester) and rework SMN not tied to slip damage.
