    They try to respond to us every day except for the weekends. They've made posts when they can actually address them. I'd rather they never address something if it's just going to be a "Thanks for your feedback, we'll let the devs know for their consideration."

    This is a rare game where the devs actually do take our feedback into consideration. Many things on many patches are the result of player feedback. Just because they don't post or won't use your idea doesn't mean they aren't listening

    Not only does the development team have a particular vision for the game, many requests from players also contradict each other.

    And they have addressed Summoner issues. They explained the design of the job, explained why egis look the way they do, and they have also made changes to the game to buff/nerf summoners when they felt it was needed. A recent change was the MP costs of certain Arcanist spells.

    You're certainly free to keep on asking for changes to Summoner, but don't expect SE to be constantly responding to you.

    I don't know if other people than angry posters read this topic, but again to me all the messages we find in Dev Tracker are more about technical issues being fixed, commercial information, etc. Nothing really interactive, saying "we read your gameplay suggestion with much interest and this is one aspect of the game we will keep you posted on" or stuff like that.

    The only channel of information I know is Naoki Toshida speeches and that's all. In the mean time, there is a black hole of communication.
    Taking League of Legends as an example again, they also have a sort of developper's blog, saying what is coming up next and what they tweaking and where some game designers give their point of view on some possible evolutions of the game.
    I don't know, if you don't like the fact that you can't filter monster drops (ahriman wings for instance while farming FATEs for alexandrites), a guy will eventually tell you that one day they'll change it or not and why not

    For what it's worth, they have made changes to summoner based on our feedback. In patch 2.51 they lowered the mana cost for Ruin and ruin 2. In a previous patch they lowered the cost for a few other spells. It's not exactly a giant change but they are paying attention. Also, I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that they are waiting for 3.0 to really work on summoner since the level cap is going up and s ummoners are getting more Egis. Honestly it would be silly to change summoner right now only to have to rework it again in 3.0. I'm just going to wait patiently and see what happens in 3.0

    Also, SE does respond, and they do have reps who read the forum and let the devs know what the playerbase is thinking, and they do make changes as a result. In addition to what was posted above, TT tournament format is changing because of player feedback on these forums. Some TT NPCs are changing because of player feedback on these forums. Chocobo racing is being rebalanced based on what people have said on these forums. New gear was created based on player feedback (the invisible items, for one).

    Just because SE doesn't agree with everything the players say doesn't mean they aren't listening. Just because SE doesn't do what you want them to do doesn't mean they don't make changes based on player feedback. They tend to completely ignore the people who say completely negative things or who want something to be redone from scratch ("I don't like this thing, you have to totally redo it but I won't give any advise as to how" gets no response (nor does it deserve one), and same with "Totally remove this aspect of the game you guys spent so much time working on" and "Remove this thing that other people like but I don't and replace it with this idea I had that maybe one other person likes").

    People complained about endgame SMN equipment having Spell Speed on it, particularly the Robes. What did they do? When the Demon Robe came out, it had SMN stats. And, they decided to fix this in the future by having SS affect DoTs in 3.0. They're not going to change existing gear because people have already made decisions based on it, but they will change things going forward (can you imagine the whinefest that would have resulted from them changing the Dreadwyrm Grimoire to SMN stats after people had sunk so much time/money into SMN relics only because of the poor stats on the endgame gear?). People complained about SMN endgame MP issues, and they reduced the cost of Bio2. People said that it wasn't enough, so they reduced the cost of... something else, I forget. People are still asking about FC Summoning? They actually mention it explicitly in Final Coil (in the post-T12 cutscene, an "ancient way of summoning the power of a Primal from the moment of its demise" or whatever), so that says to me that it's still in the works and they wanted to remind us that they haven't forgotten about it.

    But, people complain about the look of the egis? Well, that's just aesthetics, and they disagree with you. They don't see a problem with it, so they're not going to change it. People want the class reworked from scratch to be more like they want it and less like the Devs imagined it? They're not going to do that, and think of how many people who are not in the vocal minority on the forums who would suffer from that change. People want the class renamed something else and an entirely new Summoner class created? That's an absurd request and they aren't going to give it more than a passing glance before rolling their eyes.


    In other words, if you aren't getting a dev response, it's not that the devs aren't paying attention. It might just be that you aren't saying anything worth responding to or acting on. And that is not a hostile statement or a personal attack, it's simply the truth of the matter. And do searches - the community reps have responded to SMN issues in the past. They aren't likely to repeat themselves just because you can't be bothered to use the search function.

    I would encourage you to read the dev tracker as far back as possible. I heard questions from players during 2.0 that were addressed in the 1.0 days so your questions may have been answered a LONG time ago.

    I find your post very condenscending and berating, everyone has the right to feel the way they feel without for that being bashed, he was at least decent in his post, yours is far more unbecoming for someone that points others on their own supposed lack of decency.

    For the rest, Devs do what they can when they can, doesnt mean we cant keep asking, and if the answer is nto satisfactory to us we have the right to keep insisting and yes probably never get an answer...part of the game

    A lot of information comes out on variety media outlets, not just from community reps on these forums. For example, here's a Famitsu interview @ PAX East that's translated on Bluegartr. It states that, as of that particular interview, Yoshi-P had sat in 19 different interviews during his time at PAX East. While I personally do think a lot of the information between many of the PAX East interviews are the same, there's enough information to get some interesting speculations / discussion going.

    Since the topic of SMN has popped up on this thread, and there's generally a lot of talk about how Skill/Spell Speed is useless, there's a quote on the BG translation stating:

    Is there a possibility that you'll be making adjustments for skill speed and spell speed, for example?
    Y: This is just an example, but it will have an effect on DoT, and so on. For example, a higher spell speed will raise the strength of the DoT's damage per tick, so the overall amount of damage will be raised. I'd like to avoid going into too much detail because it's still under adjustment and we understand that we need to considerably increase the importance of spell speed, but there will be changes to important parameters for each job.
    There's a lot of implications about this quote with (1) how a stat is being modified and (2) how DoT classes seem to be the primary target for the effect. Of course, nothing is set in stone, but it does show that they do listen to community feedback.

    Also, since a developer's blog was brought up, here's a link to the dev blog for XIV. I personally have no idea how it compare's to Riot Games though, as I'm not a hardcore LoL fan.
