We don't spend much time in any open world area outside of coerthas/Mor dhona/wherever the coil meet up is. Hopefully that is what changes in the new xpac. I don't care what level the areas are as long as they are worth being in.

Agreed a new expansion should have at least some focus on low to mid tier content including new side quests and dungeons.

This dev team is way too focused on end game and should share the love not just for new players but old players who want to level other classes and jobs.

Because once you've done the side quests in those areas there is zero reason to go back because they aren't repeatable.

Zero reason except if you hunt or work on relics.

I just don't see any point in creating new starter zones since 1-15 goes by very fast. Of course, new zones overall would be great. Just saying that the early levels go by very quickly even without sidequests.

Let's look at this from a design perspective: Why design a new area that most players will stop using within a single DAY when you can spend those resources designing an area players will revisit over and over?

The reality is how often are those zones used once you have something at 50? Not that often unless you count hunts and treasure maps. Think about it, when they spend their time making 50+ zones part of the whole expansion that is supposedly the size of XIV release, think how insane it is. Pretty much everyone zone is Mor Dhona + in terms of enemy level meaning that there will probably be no safe place.

If they focused on make lower level zones that would be used a few times then forgotten it would just be a waste of resources that could of been better spent developing a wide variety of content for high level play.

Lets look at this in an intelligent way, why not make area's with both low and high level content and repeatable content and quests, low level beastman quests for example and beastman strongholds for higher level players.

    I'm not so sure.
More worthwhile repeatable content = more chores to do on top of capping tomes, getting lockout loot, weekly quests, daily quests, beast tribe quests, cactpot, roulettes...etc.

If the repeatable content is just for EXP, then levequests & FATEs already serve that purpose.

As I said previously leve quests and FATES are boring and have zero story content, repeatable quests could serve as both story content and be expandable in future patches.

It will also give low level players the chance to work at daily beastman quests and obtain the unique perks that are associated with them.

Bringing back beastman strongholds like in 1.0 where a party have to work together to beat powerful bosses would also mean old zones continue to be used, especially if it is required for the daily farming of reputation.

Even adding a solo quest roulette where players are given 5-6 random repeatable quests on a daily basis with a bonus for completition would go towards keeping older zones active.

These are just things I can think off the top of my head in 5 mins, if I was actually being paid to do it and put some effort into it I'm sure I could come up with much better, but that's SE's job not mine :P

Repeatable quests won't have a lot in the way of story, since they almost invariably consist of:
->Do something for NPC once. (Likely a chore)
->Next time the NPC goes: "Hey, gj last time. Do it again."
    That's why they are repeatable.

Some leves do have some lore attached to them. Have you ever read any of the descriptions? Most of them provide detail about some aspect of the area, or other small bits of Eorzea.

    An example:

^Talks about what Rolanberries are and what they are used for.
