Being attractive and having good physical features does not equate to metrosexuality :P

Excessive primping and preening and the like makes one "meterosexual" and believe me I have seen a lot of unattractive, very unmodel-like guys that are like this.

Don't judge or label a book by its cover, even if it is a very attractive and sleek one.

Your nephews are pretty insecure, no offense.
I guess every little thing they may find 'girly' will make them think twice.

They shouldn't even judge a game over how armour looks in this game...and an event that
is pretty much aimed towards little girls in Japan. WHAT A SURPRISE!
I hate a lot of armour in this game and I still have my bursts of fun.

Sadly that's just how teens and men who don't who don't grow out of it, are. Doesn't help if he thinks his friends will view FF14 as too "girly"

How old is the OP's nephew anyways?

It's a societal thing. It can also be glimpsed at in regards to some of those who play WARs too. You go "man mode" and tank with your face, etc

Nobody has pointed that the OP's nephews views on masculinity and femininity are as much learned as they are cultural. Their parent(s) have no doubt influenced what they (the parent) ascribe as male and female, and have impressed upon their children (the OP's nephews) that female = bad/weak/inferior.

This is hogwash. Young boys don't need their parents to get the idea that girls are yucky. Just like they won't need their parents to tell them that girls aren't yucky when they're older. Not every little imperfection in kids can be blamed on their parents.

As others have said, your nephews probably rolled in at a time that made FF XIV look more "feminine" than it is normally:

Little Ladies Day is a short, Holiday-themed event in the game, and it probably didn't help if they ran around Uldah, Limsa, and Grid and saw all the Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Trees and pink petals falling all around, etc. But it's just a holiday event; the cities aren't normally filled with Sakura Trees, or have the giant Doll Stand in town.

Besides that, there are certainly feminine costumes in the game but plenty of masculine aesthetic as well.

Perhaps they saw all the Miqote females (Cat Girls) running around in the game and thought that was what the game predominantly was?

You can only educate them and express your opinion about the game, but you should show them that there's plenty of "masculine" type stuff in the game as well. Some examples:

There's plenty of masculine stuff in this game, in addition to plenty of feminine stuff, wacky stuff, funny stuff, weird, and more.

Or maybe they are average little boys and don't like girly things? As a kid I enjoyed batman more than Barbie. Not because I was insecure.
