Party finder was designed for the sole purpose of using prerequisites and requirements for a party to complete content, DF was not. DF is a group of random players across multiple worlds who never agreed to anything when queued up for it or prior to entering. If you want to speed run in DF, ask the group if it is okay with them once enter but they have every right to say no and you should not be doing a speed run without that permission/agreement. As I said earlier the default position for DF runs should be normal speed and with cinematics, players should not have to ask for a normal paced run in DF or ask for permission to watch cinematics in DF. Speed runs on the other hand should not be the default position in DF and should require asking permission of the group inside if they are all okay with speed running it before start clearing it.

I pull half regardless of any message to test the group - after they pass the initial gear check. The new player message doesn't change the way I pull mobs, since there is no strat to killing trash... just pew pew them and stay out of red circles.
If a BLM only uses Fire 1 instead of 2? I now pull less instead of telling him to do it my way, since that shows he isn't comfortable with speed/not use to it.

I will, however, always go over boss strat if I see a new player message regardless if anyone speaks up or not.

I'm still pretty new to the game (compared to many other people) and I have noticed one thing: In low level dungeons, every time I revealed to be new, people seemed to be very helpful.
Lately I (ilvl 81) tried to do Amdapor's Keep. I said that I was new... a few seconds later, everyone else was gone. Not very motivating

Sorry that happened :/ I don't get why people will put up with a 30 minute penalty instead of an additional 1-5 minute run.

I did a low lvl roulette while trying to level my DRG and we got a brand new tank in copperbell. He was only holding hate on one mob at a time. I OT'd the dungeon and explained the best ways to pull and keep hate - I even showed him where the aggro meter was at (I was level 50 when I first learned about that). Sure it took far longer than a no-talk group, but by the end he held aggro on every pull.

Also, if we ask before beginning the dungeon run, our presumptions of the groups intentions–of what should be–no longer matter.

You have a group who are tired of running the dungeons, and you have the group who are new. You then have a group of persons who aren't driven into maddening agony from running the dungeons over and over again.

    Get some manors.

Lately I've been noticing people asking for tips and the tanks just running on in anyway before anyone can advise that person.

Tanks clearly have the worst attitude in this game at the moment.
I actually have been thinking up a macro for my tank stating I am there to help and if they need full clear, etc to let me know and I will be happy to oblige. I am not a douche but even my patience has limits. I, however, will still be as courteous as I can be.

Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.

AAwww, what they leave for? At item level 81, you still can blow thru AK. We use to do it at item level 70 something. lol Weak

The OP is perfectly just in his request. His pull style is to go big if no ones new - that's perfectly fine if he thinks the DPS/healers can handle it.

What he's requesting is for someone to say if they're new and not just an alt. I've run with lots of 'new' players who were just alts, and many asked me to go big because they knew the fight already.

This shouldn't even be a speed run topic. It's a basic eyiquette to a tank. Let us know what we're working with so we can help you.

I have no issue with speed runs or conventional runs. I heal. So, I'm prepared for both. I know how to holy spam or bane while keeping the tank alive during mass pulls. However, if you choose to do a massive pull and use no cooldowns, I will purposefully let you die and laugh hysterically while you rage in chat.

Indeed, but do you remember how quickly people would (and still do) abandon ship in Arum Vale? There are a lot of players in duty finder with very little tolerance for new players, or players who are in their view under-geared (i.e. not in level sync'd ilvl 120 or better).
