Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.
Seems a bit early to judge no? They only show a female wearing the outfit. It could be different on male characters for all we know. SCH gear defers from both genders; men have pants, women have skirts (I think?). The casting set for Scylla's defers from men and women as well, same with SMN AF. The male version of BLM could be a long coat for all we know, unless they did release a photo and I missed it.
Personally, to me, it looks fine. Gives you a sense of what a high-class mage would look like in Ishgard.
At least the BLM set looks nothing like the AF1 gear sets.
WAR and WHM got the short end of the stick, WAR's is incredibly similar to AF1 and WHM got a longer robe and a KKK hoodie.
I agree with Jinrya: the new BLM AF2 looks awful.
It reminds me of a mix of the Harlequin set (UGH), with some wanna-be Victorian + Jester + FF XI's Red Mage (now in black). It's nothing that evokes "Oh cool! A Black Mage just ran by..."
There are plenty of ways to enhance and make a new "Heavensward" version of the iconic Final Fantasy Black Mage outfit that evokes "Black Mage." This isn't one of them.![]()
Yeah, they look similar, but you can't mistake them for what they are.
Black Mage first AF has no difference, and the way that gear looks is very gender-Neutral. I wouldn't be surprised if it's exactly the same.Seems a bit early to judge no? They only show a female wearing the outfit. It could be different on male characters for all we know. SCH gear defers from both genders; men have pants, women have skirts (I think?). The other thing is, even though there is a glamour system, doesn't mean you can half-ass robes. This is what they are doing, which is why most of the new robes are ugly as hell. Look at the Odin's robe, it's just that death robe made black. They aren't even trying anymore.
Anything made unique just gets shared too, which is even lazier. You see this with the 3 new robes from the new dungeons. Casters got a red robe, whm goes a white version, and archer's got a brown one. Are you kidding me!? There is no reason for Archer to get a robe, you already have sch and blm sharing too many sets. Yet ALL disciple of war get there own sets...

I'm still waiting for this:
When will BLM get their iconic glowy eyes & faces masked by darkness?
o.O
AF and CT1 have been the only sets where DoW's didn't share sets/have palette swaps with at least another DoW or even DoM.
- i70 Darklight was a palette swap for Mnk/Brd
- i70 dungeon gear was a palette swap for Mnk/Drg
- i80 dungeon gear was a palette swap for Mnk/Brd
- i90 Allagan was the same for Mnk/Drg/Brd, like the exact same, not even a palette swap, just different names for the pieces
- i100/110 sol gear was a palette swap for Mnk/Brd
- i100 ST gear was a palette swap for Mnk/Drg
- i100 dungeon gear palette swap for Caster/Healer/Brd (as you mentioned) and Mnk/Nin
- i110 HA was a palette swap for Mnk/Drg and Brd/Caster
- i120/130 poetics is a palette swap for Nin/Brd and Mnk/Drg
- i120 WoD is a palette swap for Mnk/Nin
- i130 Dread is a palette swap for Mnk/Nin
Just for the record, I'm not defending the fact. Ofc SE is lazy with their copy-pastes. Just wanted to point out that this is not a DoM exclusive problem. ^^
