Grinding is excessive. It's not playing anymore. It's working at a virtual production line.

No good MMO needs grinding. No single one. It's bad game design to buy time, nothing else. Good game design gives you fun, so you WANT to play something over and over again. The mechanic of grinding reduces a player to the level of a donkey, following a carrot. The donkey does not want to pull the cart (gameplay), he wants the carrot (loot).
    What do you want exactly?

Less of a grind: Getting gear and leveling quicker.

Or no grind: Getting everything the first time, leveling at same rate as a casual offline game. Which leads to bored players complaining they have nothing to do and leave the game.

When you say a good MMO has no grind, then you're thinking of something you aren't playing anymore(reason being...) or just plain dreaming.

Most parts of FF14 do not need grinding. Those parts who do are the bad parts. Gold Saucer is actually such a bad part.

What it needs is a way for all player to get their MGP and less RNG, more fun. Else Gold Saucer will simply die, because at the moment, it's for hardcore gamers, everyone else don't have much to do in the long run. The normal player will never grind that hard for a single item.

Sure, they can keep it this way. Elitist's Gold Saucer, only for those people who want to pose with rare grind stuff. If that's their plan, Gold Saucer is fine as it is and should stay this way, of course.

If they want everyone to have fun and not only <5% of "grinders", it need more prizes and more FUN(!) ways to earn MGP.

It's brutal grinding alone to just do the Chocobo Race, because 50-90% of breeding chocobos you buy are disabled. Wasted 20k MGP today alone on 6 crippled chocobos with 5-8 1-star stats.

Many will have this problem, not even starting with the medium prizes.

Gold Saucer is losing players already, people go back to Mor Dhona, because they hate grinding and RNG.

Seems to me you're just doing it to yourself. If you're going to be so selective of what chocobo you choose to use, yes, you're going to waste a lot of MGP. That's your choice, though.

Tip: having 1 star stats isn't a problem. You can weed them out later.
