Yoshi-P also said that personal housing would be separate from free company housing and considerably cheaper, so I wouldn't take everything he says as set in stone. This is very strange. In the interview with FF14 Reddit, Yoshi-P stated catagorically that these new jobs will not start at lvl 1, and that they have not finalised the lvl that they will start at. I will go with the FF14 Reddit interview answer personally.
EDIT: this thread also cites sources that confirm the new jobs not starting at lvl1 also

.
Many classes in this very game don't even get the skills to perform their level 50 rotations till very late. Blm for example had to wait til the 40s. Monk and ninja change drastically with the addition of one skill at 50/45. Level 30 in this game means nothing to many classes. The real game starts at the cap when you have everything.

I'm thinking it will work like FFXI jobs, in that you first need a lv30 job to unlock other jobs (you start with lv1 Warrior, Red Mage, Monk, Thief, White Mage and Black Mage, the others must be unlocked after reaching lv30 on any of them), but once unlocked, the new job (Paladin, Dark Knight, Beastmaster, Ranger, Bard, Summoner, Dragoon, Corsair, Blue Mage, Puppetmaster, Ninja, Samurai, Dancer, Scholar, Rune Fencer, Geomancer) will need to be leveled from Level 1 and up.
Different information everywhere. I give up.
New jobs start at level one
New jobs wont start at level one
New jobs will start at level 1 and can only grind Aurum Vale for exp
All jobs are deleted everyone is level 1 and has access to just emotes and the only boss is good king moogle mog which you have to kill via spamming emotes.

Untrue on the last one. It was confirmed he is killed by bowing and you get a 1.4% chance for him to grant you a level.Different information everywhere. I give up.

Considering the reddit translation of the interview regarding the relic weapons was hugely mistranslated I would honestly take any sources translated by anyone other than SE with a very large grain of salt. Japanese can be a very vague language and this can lead to a lot of confusion in translations sometimes.
I personally believe that the new jobs will start at level 1 and Yoshi was actually referring to them categorically not being available to a level 1 player to unlock. His earlier statements about the jobs being available right away after you install the expansion were referring to current players who will already be high enough to do the quest to unlock them right away. Reading it that way it's easy to see how it could be mistranslated. I could be wrong, of course, but either way at least half of the translations we've had over the past few days must be wrong.

These new jobs become more confusing with each morsel of information. Dark knights now a tank, they don't have base classes, they start at level 30, they start at level 1... honestly, by now I'm surprised the rumour-mills haven't made Machinist out to be a Gundam and Astrologist into a Tarot wielding soothsayer.
I guess we'll all find out closer to the actual release date... probably when they announce the update.

I am leaning toward this interpretation as well.Considering the reddit translation of the interview regarding the relic weapons was hugely mistranslated I would honestly take any sources translated by anyone other than SE with a very large grain of salt. 1. You MUST have one of the existing base classes at 30 to unlock new jobs. Doesn't have to be any specific class, just one at 30.
2. The new jobs will start at level 1. They will have to be leveled outside of Heavensward areas because those are made for levels 50-60.
For me, the only question is whether the new "job" is equipped like a class when changing weapon, or if you have a soul stone that you have to equip as well. I'm leaning towards no on the soul stone, but I'm not on the dev team. If it was starting at level 30 and soul stone based, they would utilize existing weapons. As it is, each new job will have a unique weapon.

This is the way I've been interpreting it as well. I admit that a huge chunk of that is hopeful bias on my part because one of the main reasons I play RPGs is to participate in the leveling process. If they take that away from me it will make me sad.Considering the reddit translation of the interview regarding the relic weapons was hugely mistranslated I would honestly take any sources translated by anyone other than SE with a very large grain of salt.
