The trick is to be a class that everyone needs / desires and wear "appropriate" gear.
I SB i70 DoM jewellery (DET and CRIT is all of these), and run as either WHM or BLM all the time. I only SB the right side, this keeps my iLVL about 85ish; which keeps the jerks happy because I am strong enough to keep up regardless of the size of pull.

I'm a career tank. When I choose to SB I SB'd on tank. (I stopped, because it's not as profitable as it used to be (600K-900K for above materia). Soooo /thread?). I ran Extreme dungeons, in i90 gear. (Snowcloak, Satasha HM, Qaarn HM). The i90 HQ Spiritbonds in 3 runs.

FYI - this is Heavy Wolfram gear. I was running typically only left side. my FC Leader ran as BRD I think. he always did full sets. I think even weapon included.

If you are going to do this, you can't slack off. As long as you are doing decent numbers, people might complain but the won't kick you. If you are wearing garbage gear and not paing attention, then you are a hindrance to the party as a whole. There's nothing wrong with wearing crafted gear in instances for te purposes of SB, as long as you actually contribute.

The Stigma is mostly b/c people will walk in with SB gear and suck.

Also, today at lunch I walked into a Trial Roulette as a WAR in full i110. My jewellery was platinum Ruby, but I haven't melded VIT into it yet. The PLD told me to 'let him tank' because 'he had more HP'

yeah, b/c he was wearing VIT accessories. He couldn't pull threat off me if he tried, and I wasn't going to jus afk for the whole fight. besides, 8.5K is more than enough for Ramuh HM lolol.

Anyway, somebody griped at me for Spirit Bonding. I don't think I know ANYBODY converting full HQ i110 gear lol. Some people are just jerks. That being said, I'm confident that while tanking I was also probably highest DPS, or at least close. . . even with Defiance on. Despite how I used to feel about PLD having more CD's, I seemingl always have a CD for everthing even if I'm on WAR. As long as you know when to expect spike damage Inner Beast is just sikh.
