    Chocobo Lottery aka "Weather"

I really would like to know: what's the point of this?

I mean, there is NOTHING you can do about it. It would be okay, if you could for example buy some special chocobo gear, making your chocobo a bit slower or not so easy to ride, which will in compensation get rid of the weather effect, but the way it is, it's just a lottery.

For example a "fair weather" chocobo. Then in this impossible rain-swept desert of south thanalan, every single race is cloudy, rain, storm, which simple means, that you need 10-15% more time to beat the course.

Sure, it's nice when you got the right weather, but then again it's bad for "foul weather" chocobos...

I don't really get the point of this. It's just throwing a dice and that's it.

why is there only me answering this ?
Robinrethiel, you are very very right...
Im a G5 so far, and only got 2 choco with fair weather, it was a pain in the *** all the way. That's completly unfair compared to the other one !
That's ok to me that stats and abilities depend from random parent's genes passing on a child... But come ON ! the weather??? really??? it's not even realistic ...
At least give us the choice to gear the choco (rain resist body, storm resist legs, etc), any way to act on this stuff or idk !

Cloudy & Fog doesn't help the Foul Weather chocobos by the way, they rely on Rain, Showers and Thunderstorms (the latter I've only -ever- seen occur on Tranquil). As it stands though the weather system is actually quite useful in giving those whom are behind a chance to catch up if they have an opposing weather to those in the lead.

My G2-G4 were all Fair Weather and I found they got just as much sun as they did rain, if not more (since I raced Sagolii Road almost exclusively for them).

The point is so that you don't win every single race. Consider it a way to give the underdog a leg up.

Well, even if i try to be open minded on this, let's say it's ok, a random biface permanent parametter that will induce bonus & malus on my stats... But that matter that much??? come on! it amputates like 50% of your max speed, the consumption of the stamina increase like crazy aswell... it totally ruins the game. Can you imagine im playing to a game like hearthstone... im building a strategy with my sweat, because what we have/like in chocobo race is strategy, and there is a phenomen than say "HEY excuse me sir ! there is a malus that ll ruin ur game here because we need to give the underdog a leg up!"

Seriously, i call that making "social" actions on games, a games is define by skills put in good work to win. If you start to make social in a game... where are you??? in child's grade ? Did you even notice the number of game ruined because of this ?
Still im a okay for a phenomen that make little harder, give advantages, but definitly not in this proportions, which is ruining.

Im not even crying, i got weather with me lately and i am in a win streak whereas i was loosing just before, i find this is got too much importance.

To finish my point of view, you can disagree with me i wont be mad btw, but remember, it could have been many strategies on the stats build of chocobos... the Toprunner chocobo strat is clearly not viable just because of weather. I would like to see we have the choice if we want a chocobo that is super fast and consumme super fast. I don't want every single chocobo build the same because well there is the stamina chocobo and it work the best and everyone is getting it actually... yeay super variety ! how original !

From my experience, foul chocobos are superior than fair ones.

Maybe it's just me, but fair chocobos perform HORRIBLY under rain, their stamina is destroyed and they go at snail pace, but it is true they turn into rockets when fair/clear/heatwave.
Thing is, foul chocobos don't run especially harder during rain, they just run ok and their stamina seems to drain at a normal rate, but fair/clear/heatwave doesn't seem to have such a negative impact on them either, which make them far less random and unstable than fair ones.

Then again, this might just be me and my own perception, but I'm at already at G8 with around 2k games played and this has been my experience so far.

My bird likes Fair weather, but all I saw last night was Foul weather. Besides, the weather impact isn't THAT huge, it really isn't. Just means you might need to manage stamina a BIT more. I've won lots of times in unfavorable weather.

lol. It is. Especially on fair chocobos, once it rains, your chocobo literally moves like 20-30% slower. It's brutally noticeable. You can still win, sure, but under a very significant disadvantage.

My chocobo is a Fair Weather chocobo, and I can deal with Rain and still win. While I was using my 2nd gen bird as Foul weather, I could run just fine in Fair weather. It IS a noticeable difference, but it's not THAT bad either....I don't entirely agree. *shrugs* Thats just my perception of it...
