Yech! >.> Sounds like those people don't need to be running around throwing out blind fc invites. Especially if they feel it's okay to outright harass and bully people for not following rules they had no clue of. I'd just blist the whole group honestly, and join your friends' fc.

Several months ago, I stumbled on an fc or ls ad somewhere out there (can't remember where or which it was for now) that stated somewhere in the middle of their long-winded discription of their fc/ls that if your character name was LOTR-related, their group was Not for you! :P So yeah, every once in a while you can come across people who are uptight about the oddest things.

A group set a rule that applies for its members. If you dont approve it or find it dumb then dont join the said group.

This is simple as that. Same as with the ToS for example.

According to the OP though, the group then went around blind-inviting members apparently without going over said rules with them. So if the new members aren't informed, do those rules still stand? Because tbh if I was in such an fc and watched this behavior toward someone else, I most probably wouldn't want to continue to be in that fc whether or not i chose to troll them until kicked or leave on my own.

Like "hey have an invite but please read about us in our website before joining" this kind of stuff. Or maybe a login prompt displaying "check & respect the FC rules - have a nice day in Eorzea".

True, though the OP did say that they weren't aware of the rule until after the drama. But it is possible that the person inviting could have tried to link them to information about the fc that the OP just didn't bother to read. Still, I think that if the group were that uptight about any certain thing, that it should have been stated directly to the op so there was no room for error.

On the other hand, there's also no way to know how the OP reacted immediately after the emoticon that might have contributed to their behavior, but I do have to say that if it was me in a leadership position, that I would have sooner kicked the troublemaker before singling them out in such a harassing and bullying way, just because it would have solved things quicker with less drama and stress for everyone involved.

TBH your better without them they crazy if they have a rule that you can't use a dam or XD in there FC. I would just laugh at them and leave before they could even kick me.
