So I'm guessing this thread has completely ignored the 1.18a patch notes.
So I'm guessing this thread has completely ignored the 1.18a patch notes.
Also, MRD WS boost from 1.18a is a joke! They made sure to boost everything it cannot use properly anymore and left behind skull sunder and fracture, the current most used WSs from the class.
Right, Marauder is ok at doing some AoE stuff before the patch, but now TP gain is slower, and AoEs are on an incredibly long reuse timer.
So now Marauder is hardly the AoE tank it used to be, or AoE damage dealer.
The point of this thread though was that, comparatively, Marauder has the slowest weapons, and average damage.
That's unbalanced with every RPG ever. Slow Weapons = Highest Damage, Fast Weapons = Lowest Damage. FFXIV has gotten this wrong though.
If you want Marauder to focus as a tank then maybe you should re-read the class description on the Lodestone, and finalfantasyxiv.com. It's very specific Marauder is supposed to be a heavy damage dealer. Right now it's a SLOW damage dealer. That's the problem I was having.
Yes, Marauder has high HP, yes Marauder has Heavy Armor and good defense and Defensive ablities - however at the end of the day Gladiator is the tank in FFXIV, Marauder can be a nice offtank - but Gladiator has a shield, and Pugilist has high evasion.
Marauder falls in where Warrior used to in FFXI - where its not quite a tank, and not quite the damage dealer - only without the caveat of equipping every weapon. It's incredibly unlikely to get more weapons, however a simple boost in damage to correspond with the 4 second attack delays - even if that damage bonus is in the form of a higher Strength to Damage ratio for Two Handed Weapons (which, also helps Lancer), would be highly appropriate.
Think about FFXI for a bit -
On a HNM you'd have your thieves hitting for 20 dmg a hit, and swords and katanas for around 30 dmg, while two-handed weapons would hit for 100+. Well, in FFXIV all weapons seem to hit for around 50 +-. Some will hit for 45 and others for 50, but overall the damage per second is in the same ballpark. The classes differ by their abilities, but the attack delays have really caused unbalance for Marauder specifically.
Perhaps Marauder should get an AoE Auto Attack Stance. The same way you can set spells to AoE mode, while in Auto Attack on marauder let us toggle AoE stance where all attacks are an AoE (even if its double attack delay or +50%).
I guess we play marauder differently because I have plenty, plenty of opportunities to chain Storm's Path and Brutal Swing in Darkhold...while being surrounded by archers.
I bet you do. No matter what anyone say there will always appear someone saying the opposite. IMO people need to stop ignoring the fact the class is distorted right now (before its too late) and stand together to force SE fixing the crap 1.18 did...
But while people keep thinking that coming here and doing this kind of comment is good for the e-peen ("Oh yeah...i can play MRD now because i'm good and you don't because you sucks yadda yadda yadda...") nothing will change...because feedback is feedback, no matter how stupid it look.
This kind of comment just counts as a positive feedback regarding the new MRD, which shouldn't happen at all...its like people like seeing a great class turned into a maimed version of FFXI jobs just to fit someone's vision of FFXI-2.
So what i ask is...
"Why you guys think MRD having 30~60 sec recast on basic attack is better than having it using weapon delay or being a bit faster in exchange of heavier cost/penalties? Why accepting the class distorted from its original mechanics?"
MRD always was an awesome class...always...a class that rewarded player skill...people bashed it before 1.18 exactly because of this...because not everyone actually was able to play it to its fullest...many complained about basic action spam, many complained about the large amount of AoE actions, many complained about steadfast...why this? Because it was hard to play...it required skill from player or he often would hit random monsters...and now, after 1.18, its just a sketch of FFXI's WAR...its a class that right now is faceless...it lost its identity and now is just playing other classes...some play GLA as MRD...some play PGL as MRD...some play LNC as MRD..but right now you cannot play MRD as MRD. Its not fair to the class or to the game itself having people accepting this change just to talk others down.
But I already said all this stuff to you Lienn :O
Zarvlad is not just some random guy against you, there's a whole bunch of us ]=D

...like if it was a good thing. :/ Its what i said...people do this kind of comment as if it would bring something good to the game...which is not the case. The Community reps don't need to be able to distinguish trolling and jokes from real feedback...they just count everything as real feedback...and this is where the problem is...a joke today can become a messed class in the future.
Look...my problem isn't the battle change...i don't give a s#!t if they removed stanmina bar or if MRD AA is 4, 8 or even 60 seconds...i don't care about AA...its not the problem regarding MRD. The thing that annoys me is the change at MRD mechanics...
Have ARC with 4 sec delay at AA and 30 sec delay at light shot and ask them if they would like it...they wouldn't...and wouldn't be due the 4sec delay of AA...its because when you put such delay at its base you just break all the rest...anyway...all this comparison is getting old already...there are plenty of explanations from both sides of this discussion in several topics here and even in other forums...
You guys can help me putting some pressure on dev team to have the class mechanic back or just do me a favor and not post positive feedback regaing it as if the class was good...because a trolling or a fake positive feedback just to pick on those that want the class back on rails also counts as positive feedback for dev team...
