I don't think this would happen if the bonus were advantageous enough.

    Hey Alkorris,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. As others have said, the key issue is that SE has incentivized running older Dungeons (via Duty Roulette (Dailies) for Bonus Gil / Tomestones) as a way to help Newbies clear older content, while still letting the Veteran players get their Bonuses. The conflict that arises is that with long cutscenes, for a Veteran player, after seeing it 2-3 times, it can definitely become annoying for them, while it's important for the Newbie.

The 2 Story Dungeons you speak of are outliers as mentioned above: SE isn't doing anything remotely as intertwined / integrated as Castrum Merdium and Praetorium (w/ lots of LONG Story cutscenes mixed inbetween sections of the dungeon) any more. So that's the good news for you.

Suggestions going forward for any New Dungeons / helping your friends experience it without Skipping Cutscenes:

    * Party Finder: As others have said, start your own Party via Party Finder, and check the option for "No Cutscene Skipping", and mention in your Description: "Bonus Tomestones because of New Player." That alone should attract people wanting the bonus Tomes to help you.

    * Ask your Free Company / Linkshell, or friends of friends if they can help you run a certain dungeon, but let you watch the Cutscenes.

On a JP Server, I've run into many times (even in Duty Finder) where they mention, "I'm new to this. Yoroshiku..." and all the veterans I've been paired with (myself included) will take it easy and let the cutscenes play out. But remember, for Castrum Meridium and Prae, however, it's tougher because the cutscenes seriously add a LOT of time to the runs, and I've seen people push ahead sometimes. But all other new dungeons you go to from here on out, the cutscenes are much shorter, and you can just ask nicely if they can let you see those before starting.

    Good luck!

my point exactly. Its not that big an advantage to go threw the trouble of just waiting for people to finish the cs.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely be using one of those methods when my friends reach these dungeons so i can help them and experience it properly.

Hey, I just wanted to say that my experience was very much the same and equally as frustrating. That being said, I noticed we are both on Brynhildr, so if you would like to, then please send me a friend request and I would be more than happy to be one of the people to help you take it all slowly (I enjoy going at a steady pace). I'm a healer myself.

If they made cutscenes mandatory when there was a new player you'd have 3 hour que times. No one farming it for cards would ever do it via duty finder, they'd just make pre made (which btw, you can clear prae in 12 minutes with 6 dps 1 tank 1 healer). So it's a catch 22, either deal with people rushing it or expect a 3 hour que time if they were to change the rules.

The difference between a 60 minute prae run with all cutscenes and a 17 minute run (average duty finder pug) is a huge difference. Majority should win in party content. If 5 of you are new, sure. Enforce cutscenes on your group. If the majority are speed runners, just deal with it.

If people weren't such adhd-addled spazzes who refused to think about people who run to progress things, maybe it wouldn't happen often enough to keep getting threads. I said something similar in another thread, but this game's community has a ridiculous *obsession* with speed. Everything has to go fast fast fast, now now now. Gods forbid that you somehow end up with a newbie in the run you couldn't be bothered to make a preformed for.

Two dungeons 'ruined' the game for you? Satori, you mayn't be aware of this, but the cut scenes in Castrum and Praetorium equal nearly fifty minutes of standing around. Inflicting that on a roomful of strangers just so you can enhance your sense of immersion is asking a lot. Need boss tactics? Watch a video or read a guide. That last part in particular is annoying because DPS players have a 20 minute queue at minimum, so there's no reason at all you couldn't arm yourself with knowledge of the encounters while you waited.
