Players can exploit this system with other friends, like making a group of 3 and letting one of these win 15 matches every week. It's just broken.

Making a Dutyfinder match would solve the problem, matching you with a similar player. Or any other system, actually.

I've seen shouts of people selling their win already, and "win-trade sets" going on. It really doesn't make any sense.

they should cancel this tournament til they implement a fix to stop win trading cheats.. giving them free card + 140k mgp as a reward for cheating would be farsical at best

As a collector, it sucks that I (and any other who cares) won't be able to get these cards unless we play like them, which is low and takes away the whole purpose of competing in a "tournament". It's the first tournament I've ever seen where you're able to choose who you play against lol.

you just said it all actually. ive never heard of a tournament where you can choose who you play. there should be seperate divisions. one for more casually playing TT where you can grind out the achievements and get the shantoto card easy, or a more pvp focused division where youre pitted against players with the same deck limits and various rules are picked at random

letting you pick your opponent is just asking to be exploited. plenty of people have gil, and plenty of people need it. a decent crafter can easily have 100 mil at this point. a small fraction of that could be used to pay someone off to buy wins

I should mention that developers invest months and years into serious matchmaking systems as seen in Starcraft, LoL, DOTA2, Halo, etc. Most MMOs not named WoW don't care about serious matchmaking because it's a lot of effort. You should see the way players were put into BGs in Tera, it was amazing how unbalanced the teams always were. I'm not holding out a lot of hope that Squenix will go DOTA2 hardcore and on developing matchmaking in this game, which means tournaments will always be awful.

The solution is to release the rare tournament prize cards (Lightning, Firion, Cecil, Tidus) as normal drop cards from NPCs, Primals, or dungeons like the other 5-star cards. Tournament prize pool should always just be MGP. If wintraders want to expend the effort to get MGP faster they can.

Do player ratings really give more tournament points?

I've played with a friend who had 10 wins and 2 loses while I'm at 0 and he gives me lesser tournament points than fighting against a fresh player..
and it doesn't make sense to play against him multiple times because every win over him would result in lesser tournament points

I know of people on my server who have been offering large sums of gil to higher ranking members to pay-to-win their way into the top 3 ranks... so rather than be fair, its just a "who has millions of gil to sink into getting a card before anyone else".... those same people also have a reputation of not wanting to let anyone else have nice stuff (will ALWAYS pull asap even on S ranks just so others cant have a chance to participate)... so I just know they will continue to troll this model also.

Also.. for those who participated in the first couple hours, they will always get screwed over because the moment they win against someone else they get penalised for being higher rank when they play their next match....

    PLEASE FIX

This might be too extremist of a solution, but perhaps they could make it so that only people with over 60 cards can sign up to the tournament. 60 cards are difficult enough to get that those who don't care for TT won't go through the hassle to get them all to then make win-whoring.

They should at least think about making the tournament cross server including all the Japanese datacenters.
e.g. Player A enters the tournament gets a match with a random player from another server, or they could do it via server clusters. They could even go as far a keeping opposing players identities anon to protect the integrity of the tournament.

yea, thatd work this week. but what about the next tournament? even ppl who dont care much about TT are still trying to get cards, casually. if they are lucky, they will have 60 cards before someone with bad luck who is grinding his ass off. not to mention, this wont stop people in big fcs or friends who trade off each tourny. like one week, guy A wins and guy B gives throws the matches to him. the next tourny, guy B wins and guy A throws them all.

the solution is that the structure of TT tournaments need an overhaul, and involves not being able to pick your opponent. Even randomly matching on the server will be problematic, as the guy can just send his opp a tell and bribe him. this needs to be cross server imo, or just strictly npc, but make the npcs use various rules and you must pick your deck before knowing them. this will be very luck based, which sucks, but its better than people abusing the system

TT is great for the most part, but I dont think a lot of thought went into the tournament and it didnt need to be implemented just yet. I would probably be online right now trying to get closer to 80 cards, but now I feel like theres no point. Totally lost motivation bc the end game of TT for me is a tournament. The only thing keeping my sub active is my static and raiding with them a couple hours a week, but with some of the new big titles releasing soon, its really going to be hard for me to justify playing now that I basically have no interest in TT at the moment
