Overgeared, but still slower than it could be. When running dungeons possibly dozens of times for Zodiac items, it can really add up.It doesn't really bother me any. You're losing at absolute maximum 20 item levels, and being ilevel 110 is overgeared for all of it anyway. I don't hate it, but I don't really care if it's there or not either.
I guess hating the item level sync would be the same as hating any other sync in the game, to me.

That was just an example scenario. The speed of running dungeons for glamour pieces, Triple Triad cards, high level roulette, crafting mats, minions...etc. is also hampered by the ilvl sync.

Not everyone plays to speedrun either, though. In the case of many of those there are alternative ways to get the items in question without running a dungeon repeatedly, and for those where there is no other option, syncing ilevel so that you're still incredibly overgeared but not as overgeared as you can possibly be is barely a detriment.
Those dungeons weren't designed for people at your gear level, thus the term "over-geared". They're designed for people in a lower gear range, and the sync keeps you from having too many problems coordinating with them, as Cutie_McSnuggles said. It's a sad day when you get a pug tank in Pharos Sirius wearing ilevel 70-80 equipment that gets kicked for being unable to keep up with the coil-geared DPS rushing them to go faster so they can get their light. This situation seems to be one of those where you want an entire system to conform to you, without looking at others who may be hampered by that mentality.
That doesn't explain why Castrum/Praetorium, HM Primals, Chimera, Hydra...etc. aren't synced. Not everyone plays to speedrun either, though. It can also be argued that while not everyone intends to speedrun, it's a shame that those who do want to are hampered.

I do agree that it's weird that main story trials and dungeons aren't synced. Especially Castrum and Praetorium. But that being said, the dungeons weren't designed to be speedran. If you want to do a speedrun, don't pug it... actually, that's an idea. Removing the level sync for premades.
Though I still disagree with the idea that you're being hampered by being forced to be "merely" overgeared for dungeons.
