I do agree that it's weird that main story trials and dungeons aren't synced. Especially Castrum and Praetorium. But that being said, the dungeons weren't designed to be speedran. If you want to do a speedrun, don't pug it... actually, that's an idea. Removing the level sync for premades.

Though I still disagree with the idea that you're being hampered by being forced to be "merely" overgeared for dungeons.

If these dungeons weren't meant to be speed ran then they need to up the anti on them, make the mobs and bosses harder. I can pull an entire dungeon mob to the boss rooms and hardly take any damage or worry too much about tanking as I hardly ever lose hate to those who are synched to 110, I'm only ilvl 103. Heck they even put the option in the PF to indicate a speed run. No challenge. Maybe if I get into Coil I may find it there.

Sync should be the ilv of dungeon drops +20. So 75 for AK/WP, 110 for Snowcloak/SashHM/Qarn HM and so on.

I think the level sync should be more strict. Being so overgeared just breaks the game mechanics (specifically bosses, not trash mobs) and is utterly unfair to newer players.

I do very much understand people not wanting the sync at all. We earned the powerful gear and it shouldn't be nerfed in a specific instance. And while you can still speedrun dungeons with a stricter sync, it still takes longer to complete it.

It just becomes a debate over who gets the short end of the stick, the people who played a lot already or the people who are still trying to get up there.

Also I had a thread on this subject :P http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...on-Level-Syncs

it bothers me because it removes the point of getting gear at all, unles you are raiding.
Correct me if im wrong but we currently have 3 dungeons where there isnt a level sync right?
I just feel its so cheap, they could've done hard mechanics but instead they just make us deal less damage to make it "harder"
Dungeons in this game is a joke and I really hope they make it better in the expansion

All the pre-level 50 dungeons use level sync and I'm fine with level sync as a system but those were character level based. I don't know why we need to use a different kind of level sync (ilevel) right now. Why not leave the dungeons as they were and just put in the same level sync all the other dungeons have in expansion (Sync them to level 51-52 for example). Stronger gear means easier dungeons. I don't think it's that weird. Dungeons designed around a certain character level range feels less weird to me. Having both kinds of level sync seems like the strangest option.
