How SE thanks its current player base

To be honest, I am all for promotions to bring in new blood. Gold Saucer or no... But if the servers are starting to suffer from it, then I would suggest SE use some of their resources and invest in more servers. Obviously if this is a major milestone and a sign of things to come, new servers and a free transfer would only improve the congestion and help ease character creation if we could move some folks off the already crowded servers such as Balmung.

I really am all for Free Log In Weekends, so long as it doesn't compromise the well being of current paying customers. After all, we're the ones who have have been supplying the funds to do these promotions.

golden saucer is nothing more than casual content. dont get me wrong, its cool and all. but if you really are so upseat over free login time because it may disrupt your time in the golden saucer then you should prolly should unsubscribe til the expansion if you have nothing else to be doing except that.

It's actually a great time for it, if everything were good that is. Most servers are going to be fine, some may get a queue time but not very long (maybe a few minutes at most). The handful of overly populated servers though, yeah, this is a HORRIBLE time to have it. Limitations of the servers will stand out more than normal. As far as promotions go though, this still is probably the best time for it.

A week or two after the patch everything will still be active, but the mad dash of the existing players into new content will have dispersed a bit. Strikes me as a much better time to open the doors for everyone to get in.

Just as an fyi, here's another conversation SE frequently has which would also generate a crap ton of revenue the likes of which any current game can't compare:

Fans: How about a remake of Final Fantasy 7?

SE CEO: Why?

Fans: Because we want it desperately and are willing to spend anything for it.

SE CEO: Ehhh... But what about a sequel to another game? Lightning's cool, ya?

Fans: No, we want remake. Literally just upgrade the graphics. We will seriously pay anything for it.

In conclusion: SE does not always jump on revenue making ideas.

I dont think free log in is a bad idea but I think it is right now. It wont bring in new players if they come into a game with wait times, congestion and lag it will just turn them off more. Yes they should have waited a little while after a patch for this. Poor timing...
It is bad for both existing and returning players at this time.

Free Login weekend and this weekend+a week and another weekend means more users, more users mean more subscriptions, more subscriptions means SE gets More money, more money and players = NEWER AND BETTER CONTENT! Oh and probably better server stability cuz they would have the irl gil to most likely fix that issue. Yeah I'm on Malboro and it isn't that populated as Gilgamesh and all that but still. Some servers are locked out from new character creation. Lately, I have seen a ton of new players and I have crappy interwebs (just saiyan) on wifi mind you and I do not have any lag nor and am I locked out of Gold Saucer.

Not trying to troll... but some of yall need to think before you type :]
