Excessive Maintenance

FFXIV actually to me seems to have a less intensive maint schedule than other games like WoW.

WoW has maint EVERY Tuesday for like most of the day, yes it isn't during NA prime times mostly but its every week.

FFXIV can go a couple of weeks sometimes with no maints unless there is a new patch of content, and yes sometimes after patches you will get another maint close by due to errors that they cannot foresee.

With how much code and content they add sometimes, it is surprising there are not more errors, humans are not infallible, and they can check, recheck, and test till the cows come home but they may miss something because it requires some kind of outlier conditions to cause it to error. A sequence of unfortunate events maybe.

I don't like maint either, I like to play, but there is no point in complaining about the maint they need to do to keep the game updated with content and running well.

Maybe OP is getting unlucky and nights he is able to play is usually maint, but that means you really do not get to play much, and you are getting unlucky or stuck on days they usually do maint if they need to. This is not really the games fault, since it is up and running 95% of the time, just you are not available to access it.

I think the key is to not have maintenance during prime time. Maintenance did seem a lot more frequent for the period after FFXIV's launch, to the point that basically gave up on FFXIV for a while since maintenance seemed to be magically synchronized with the times I was available to play...
