Chcoco Breeding concern: Please confirm.

Will the chocobo breeding for the racing be linked to the Housing system like the coloring is currently? Please say it will be something separate that is contained in the MGC. I'm ticked off enough that I have no hopes of getting a house because they are constantly sold out, I don't want to be locked out of further content because of this.

We don't know yet. However, if the system used in FFXI was any indication, chocobo raising/breeding was done at special stables inside the cities, and not at the race track.

If I had to guess, chocobo raising / breeding is probably going to happen at the existing Gridanian stables (Bentbranch and Treespeak) and not individual houses. But that is just an educated guess, not anything concrete or confirmed.

I sincerely hope so. This is how I thought it will work but wasnt sure if there was some info that I missed that would go in greater detail. It comes out tomorrow so I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Side note, does it say anywhere what the server downtimes will be for tomorrow's patch?

It seems the breeding is occuring in the central shroud, so I guess no.

The stables SHOULD not be the housing ones for the racing chocobos.

I thought in the recent interview with Yoshi, he said breeding would be done talking to the NPC at the choco farm in Bentbranch.

And for the update it is 9PM-2AM PST tonight into tomorrow morning.

From everything I've seen it looks like it will NOT be tied to housing. There should be a new NPC location or expansion of an existing one where everything associated for Gold Saucer will occur. In fact, I'd be surprised if they don't expand the chocobo dying and allow you to accomplish same if you're not in an FC. Less than 24 hrs and we'll know for sure.

Thanks for the Update times and the easing of my fears regarding the stables. I was looking forward to 4 things with this game, Housing, Choco Coloring/Breeding/raising, Tripple Triad, and Chocobo racing. I was worried more of what I was looking forward to would be locked behind a first come first serve wall.

And the update times are much quicker than I expected.

I'm more worried about how a chocobo with 4 stars in it's stats compares to a 1 star chocobo.
