It would behoove you to go on the job you're comfortable as. You asked the party how to play your own job in that encounter, and admittedly joined a farm group.

If you joined my party and wiped the group i would have just kicked you.

No unnecessary rudeness or qq, but you would be replaced in favor of someone that has actual experience on that specific job in that fight.

Tbh Divine, I sympathize with your situation, but Tome gear is 120, WoD 120, Dungeon gear 100..

If you were with a group of friends for a t6 farm in 90 that's one thing, but if it was PUG, then yea.. Tanking you don't really get a pass with low gear, echo, ilvl increase nonwithstanding. People have come to expect a certain lvl/ease of play.

Why don't you stay as healer and join Greed only farm parties (for tank gear)?

Observe how the tanks perform their duties, then shift roles. You have the benefit of being experienced and able to do the raids, take advantage of it.

Whether people say tanking is easy or hard, the one thing everyone agrees on is when they make a mistake, it is not going unnoticed and uncommented on. Tanks get zero forgiveness T^T

Look, some people are just cold. If you haven't learned that from real life, you'll learn it in any MMO (though the community of FFXIV is FAR... FAAAAR better than any other MMO I've played).

People take the duty finder much to seriously. When you queue in the duty finder (as opposed to queueing with a group) you're basically saying that you're cool with helping any newbie/undergeared player clear the duty, because you know the newbies/undergeareds will be queueing for it too. I don't think a lot of "hardcore" players get that. If you want to clear flawlessly, you're going to need a premade group; if not, you're gonna run into some inexperienced players.

Don't worry about it man, nobody should worry about that. It should not dissuade you from tanking. Though it couldn't hurt to look up a tutorial on the fight, and though some stubborn people will completely disagree with what I said above, I really wouldn't worry about it.

I literally just did T6 yesterday on my iLvL 90 Scholar Alt. It was doable, but the main issue I had were DPS not DPSing the bulb under the boss. I was honestly the only one Bane'ing my 3 dots onto it while simultaneously healing.

I'm not trying to say I'm amazing, but a person's skill is worth more than their iLvL. In exception to stat requirements I.E. Accuracy and Health Pools. It's just unfortunately people cannot seem to grasp that. And it's even worse when they blame the lowest iLvL when things out of your control goes wrong. @_@ It's frustrating and blargh.

But anywho, the animosity is most likely due to it being a farm party and not a learning party. A farm party is generally a place where people expect one-shots and no learning curves needing to be dealt with. Next time try a learning party or a FC/Friend party.

it happend to me and a friend who started the game about 2 month ago. we felt our self geared up enough (ilvl>110) to start the ex primals. We watched guides and a member of our FC started a grp with the PF.

we killed Garuda in the 2nd attempt, as there was an issue with the tanks in the 1st try (something about tankswaping - tbh as a healer i dont rly know whats the tanks job there) my "also-newbie"-friend was BLM and the FC-member who made the grp was drg.

anyway, after killing her without any causualities at the 2nd try, some guy just yelled about having 2 1st-timers in grp and welcomed us on his blacklist.

i dont get what his problem was as couldnt do anything to prevent the 1st wipe with our roles and didnt even screwed any mechanic in this fight.

I believe in his case my response would have been 'Thank you for finding room for me on your blacklist so I never have to encounter you again- please add my name at the top so you don't accidentally remove me later by mistake.'

If that was truly a concern then they would form a static to farm of equally experienced people. Duty Finder is a random team generator that is just that. A lot of new people are forced to use that to gain experience because people won't choose to take new people unless they are friends or in the same FC. New people are almost expected every Duty Finder run.

A tank friend of mine who is a career tank was trying to learn Shiva EX. He set up a Party Finder and specified that it was a learning party. Even with that, some of the DPS gave him hell for not knowing how to do the fight. On his first try. So I asked, how are they supposed to learn the fight without learning it? DPS complain about queues but they won't tank and then won't give tanks the chance to learn instances before being dicks to tanks.

I'm open to people saying look this is a farm party, please just leave if you aren't comfortable with it.

My issue was that upon entering/before we even got to mechanics there was a lot of hate purely because of my gear. Their party finder was set for ilvl90. I met that.
Not to sound like a douche, but i was farming t6 in 90 range gear before it was nerfed. If it was doable then, it was damn well doable with my 96 tank.

Mechanics wise, i understand the fight completely, i simply needed a tank to say "this is how this one simple part is done", and the rest would have been plain sailing.

Later I did set up a learning party, and had to kick a few people for coming in expecting speed runs, bringing really bad attitude and being annoyed because they weren't guaranteed a kill.

There is a big difference between new and new to it as a role. A big difference between gear and skill. One doesn't mean the other.
