They're doing it again next week with their Sch. (The one who is currently on Smn).
Somehow ppl seem to forget WHM's CD like divine seals and presence of mind when they compare the healing power of WHM and SCH. When those r popped, WHM really heals like a boss.
Also, a lot of people who play WHM only use SS to regenerate mana when they have X% of mana left. That would kind of works but not optimal way of using SS. It should be more based on mana burning rate and necessity of aggro mitigation. When burning mana very fast in certain stage of fight, it is ok to use SS even when one still has 90% mana. That way, SS would be ready earlier and more mana available.
WHM have subtle built-in mana saving mechanism - free cure2. Once mastering SS, DS, and PoM, WHM doesn't really have any mana issue to do what he/she's supposed to do in all the current contents including solo healing for the skilled ones.

Still no video and close to two weeks since their solo WHM kill. I think it's safe to say that if it IS possible, it's way harder to do. And it makes sense, a SCH can't keep tanks up as well as a WHM can alone vs. Akh Morn. While having to manage Gigaflare, Earthshakers, Megaflare all in a very small time frame. Eos wont have Whispering Dawn for half of it.
On a sidenote, with all the piety available now, WHM is stronger than ever. I've never felt WHM was underpowered but their MP management HAS been a bit lacking compared to SCH on taxing content but even that is rarely an issue anymore. Can even Holy spam in 4man to your hearts content without having to stop to regen mp between pulls at all.
Piety is a main stat that is statted as a secondary stat on gear and it's vastly superior to crit/det/spellspeed, this applies to both WHM and SCH. Come at me.

There's nothing to argue. PIE is great as long as you can put it to work, while any PIE beyond what you will realistically and effectively use is wasted. This is common sense. I.e. You add PIE to taste, allow extra for mistakes, and stop stacking it beyond that point.
