    The simplest solution is a gating stat of some kind. Require a special stat to survive certain mechanics within the fights and have gear with that stat only available in places that you want to be used as a gearing path. Problem solved. This is also the laziest solution though and can lead to a lot of long term problems... The biggest issue is usually that your group can tackle a fight just fine but will be arbitrarily wiped out by a mechanic simply because you don't have enough of an otherwise useless stat; it just feels cheap.

    Almost sure that they are on a different lock out, because they drop different gear.

    You are supposed to clear normal and get gears from normal mode in order to actually do the hard mode.

    I believe it was stated that the idea of Alex normal was that it would be easier than Coil but harder than CT, while Alex hard is supposed to be easier than Coil savage but harder than Coil.

    Alex normal = Coil with echo
    Alex hard = between Coil normal and Coil Savage

    I hope there will be more gear options at a given ilvl than there is currently.

    On the topic of crafted gear, one thing they could possibly do is to simply lower the meld caps so that crafted gear would be better than regular gear of the same ilvl but fully melding would not make it better than gear from the next tier up. Another thing they could do is to delay when they introduce new crafted gear. If they introduced crafted i110 in the same patch that WoD was added then maybe FCoB wouldn't have been cleared so quickly. At the same time they could have made the allagan catalysts needed for crafting i110 gear.

    I agree with pinder2000 and Tagihi, less RNG and more options.

    It would be nice to see the crafts play a role in gearing too, although I will be more than happy if aesthetic items are it's main purpose in the expansion and beyond.
