Why do you play?

Because I love playing MMOs with my boyfriend. We met on one, so of course I do. But there's just something so fun about exploring and beating on pixel stuff and joking around and complaining about people together.
On the totally personal side...well...it's somewhere I can feel like I matter. It makes me feel like I'm achieving something, even if it's on a screen in a fake world. I never finished high school because of depression and social anxiety, I haven't been able to get out that rut to get a job or even just my GED...But I can sit here (and waste time I could be using on the two things mentioned...v.v) and help people and make friends I don't have to see face-to-face and get a fun distraction from being stressed out about the things I need to do eventually.
Also, because there's nothing else interesting to do with my spare time. TV is boring, sports are stupid, I obviously don't like hanging out with people, reading is okay...

Some people go to bars, some people watch pro sports, some people watch tv series, some like to street race, some people read books, some people go to theme parks to pass the time.

I like to play FFXIV to pass the time.

I bought the wrong game. When I got it was like "what the heck is this?". I only have 3 games for my PS4 and I am not paying for PSN, so I figured I have it may as well try it. Its also one of the few games I can turn the volume down all the way so when my little one falls asleep on me I can still play and not wake her. Of course if I'm in the heat of battle and mashing the buttons on the controller and can get a little loud, stupid skill speed.

Though I was always a fan of FF have played many of them, (never played MMO of this type). I don't play much online, got burnt out on CoD and needed change. I find more appeal in these types of games, like the Elder Scrolls series (or the Fallout series) heck I go back to the original of those, Arena. Playing it my Packard Bell 486 PC, whew that thing had some power, I think my flip phone has more computing power than that thing did. They are a great escape from reality for a while.

After being at work in a high speed very competitive environment it is nice to have the opposite where i can slow down, relax, and play a game like this where you can help others.

I hadn't played in a year, unsubbed in Feb of 2014. Recently got back into it, and there is SO MUCH to catch up on, gear being the least of my worries. My BLM started at Ilvl89 at the beginning of the month and i'm sitting at 111 right now, so the gear part I caught up on. The main story questline, IT NEVER ENDS! I've been doing it since I resubbed! I even started Culinarian and some gathering skills.

I guess i play for the new adventures, the dungeons and the 24 man content. The Coil Turns, meh, not that important to me

I've played Final Fantasy since I was a little kid. I think the first one I played was FF4 and my favorite was FFT. I think I played FFXI in 2007 and I remember having to sit there and wait for LL. I stopped playing because life got busy. I tried FFXIV when it launched and got through the story quick but was bored from end game content so I unsubbed. Now i'm back and there's way too much to do haha. I think SE did a great job with the stories and side quests. Looking forward to GS and chocobo racing.

I take massive breaks and come back when there's more stuff to do. Not forcing myself to play something just for the sake of it. If i get fed up i'll just play something else and come back when i feel like playing again. Simple as that.

Now, i was away around 15 months and i'm really liking the game again.

He lost faith in humanity because someone didn't handle ballistics correctly in T8.

I play for the opposite reason of most of you folks. I don't really have very many friends at all, and playing this game helps me escape from a very depressing reality. In the game, I am someone who is in a position to help others. I am in a position to be productive and happy and be around people. In real life, well... I won't go into detail, but let's say any friends I have are usually far too busy with their own lives to care about someone like me. So this game is very important to me in that regard.

Dude, respect, not many would admit that and I can relate to what your saying.

I'm terrible at making friends (and even worst at keeping them),
Most of the people around me in real life usually just ask me if I play FIFA or COD when ever I mention video games, or make fun of me about it.
I play this game because even though I usually keep to myself, it makes me feel like I'm not alone while having like-minded people around me on the other side.
