Why are people rewarded for cheating?

You know. One of the biggest gripes I've read on different forums and reddit is so much grief and agony about bots.

A side note: I will be talking about multiple issues.

It's like one person being sick in a room in a building somewhere and then everyone else thinks they've caught the bug as well, when in reality their own victimization has caused them to become ill.

I seriously don't know what you people would do without the existance of these bots. Heck maybe the game would be too boring for everyone if they all went away.

Seriously I've read some posts about people complaining about bots doing a poor job in dungeons. It's not the fact that the bot was there in the first place, but it was because it did a poor job doing it's part. Could it be that people are slowly beginning to look at bots as useful? I've seen it where bots have been both a help and a hindrance to people.

First and foremost: Stop wasting your time on witch hunts. Bots have begun to become so sophisticated that the only way for a botter to really get caught is if the person running it makes a mistake. Most of those bots can almost run as if it was a real player. Trying to be an e-detective on botters is a quick way to get yourself suspended and/or banned. Let the special team handle it. Unless you're witnessing actions that no player can do (i.e teleporting, farming while afk, permanent sprinting) then you're wasting your time reporting. Seriously you're ruining the game for yourself.

Heck, it's not even a game anymore when you people constantly make threads complaining about bots. Is there seriously supposed to be some badge of honor or pride that you've sat at a keyboard for HOURS upon HOURS and then some person uses a tool that gives you a slap in the face making you feel that all of that "hard work" you've done is meaningless. This game is supposed to be fun for people and you're looking to point fingers at other things that doesn't really affect you in the big picture and have one big circle jerk about it.

I guess that's one way to unify a community right?

People complaining about RMT but I guarantee there are definitely some of you people in these forums that have bought gil. I guarantee it. You people are what breathe life into the RMT. Why? Because there are a lot of people out there who realize they just don't have the time to farm for all that stuff. They like their time and the game so they cut corners.

I've seen people take advantage of "bot parties" that fate grind, especially if players are on during off peak hours when there's hardly anyone on. Are they going to sit and complain about these accused botters doing FATES? Or are they going to run in and get a piece of the pie. People are playing their own game. Not everyone on a FC is going to be around to help you and I've watched time and time again people jump in on that EXP bandwagon.

I think SE has noticed this, big picture wise. In the end it's a part of the balance in the game.

Yes there will be some bans of bots, but there's a reason why they don't get them all.

Please stop with these threads and complaints about cheating. Stop. Go have fun with the game, your FC, and friends. Report only if it's something that is clearly impossible. There are ways to tune out the annoying RMT tells and there really isn't a huge epidemic.

And you do realize that you are defending RMT and botters using the classical "it doesn't affect you" nonsense that everyone (well except those who defends RMT and botters) knows is false, which makes you look like...well I'll stop here.

Bots totally affect me jace. Like they affect others. Maybe not you, but I'm not finding them useful. They are competition that is almost impossible to keep up with. They go and effortlessly farm materials, then can put them on the market board as low as they want. I have to spend my own time gathering them myself, and just cant justify going too low on the prices. Therefore, the gathering part of this game, which I love very much, starts to become less enjoyable for me when bots are pissing all over my hard work.

The real problem is crystals are gathered so slowly that many resort to using bots to collect a respectable amount.

I use a movie personally or if I want to spiritbond to get some more materia I then get a buttload of carbonised matter during said movie . Play windowed mode and pop media player classic on next time you need to grind.

I have seen people in FCs using bots but as it is a 3rd party program I always report them. I just hope SE monitors them when they are using it.

This isn't a court of law... and I do not think it's not your place to decide. That's is up to SE, and you are not their representative. Article (x) refers to information about the game (the service) that could negatively impact their business, not information on other websites. (xi) refers to activity in violation of state or federal law. RMT, bots, those are against the ToS, but not against the law. You can not be arrested for using RMT or botting.

We have a difference of opinion, but please don't say we can't use the names of third party tools on their website. That would make simply asking if a particular program is in violation of the ToS.

I quite agree with Jace, and yes, I will admit that the bots are significantly more useful than likely 90% of my fc ever will be. it is the bots, and the bots alone, that keep shard prices below 400 gil per. This is fact. you can look after each major patch, when botting programs get broken due to code changes. the prices of shards tend to triple to quadruple for the first few hours to days after, until the bots get themselves running again.

If you believe bots harm you, then you aren't looking at the big picture. stop looking at trying to sell items that you can get with no effort, and put a little bit of human thought into your gameplay. I promise you will make money, if you do so. If you are on my server, I will even back that promise with gil. if you put human thought into your selling and don't just mindlessly gather low level items, and you don't make money, I will personally pay you the entire amount that you would have made from gathering those low level items. I put human thought into my money-making, and I can definitely back that promise.

I do apologize. I know we aren't in a court of law, but since you were making references to terms and conditions and rule books, I figured I would make a small "Phoenix wright" reference. I see the joke was not received. I meant no harm or slight.

People HAVE been banned just for mentioning 3rd party programs on the forums, though. That's what the support desk is for.
