So this has gotten a little... odd, since I last checked the thread. I've apparently become some sort of symbol... for.... something. Who knows. Anyway.
My post was apparently deleted for... reasons unknown. Oh well. Moving on. Some clarity on a few things, starting with the lovely OP who is now pulling the victim card:
Not a single person has said this, and presumably you're referring to me based on this context. I also assume you're the one who reported my post, which is pretty hilarious, frankly. Please do not pull the drama card here. My post was a "This is embarrassing and just undermines a lot of validity in the gay community when someone who is simply squeeing over the couple makes a post doing just that." It was not a call for the thread to be deleted (Especially because there's actually been a decent amount of legitimate discussion, despite your attempts to 'lighten the mood,' thankfully), it was a call for you to perhaps realize that you are what give a bad name to the LGBT community, despite most likely not even being part of it. Just look at some of the post saying things such as "A lot of the LGBT community needs to learn the difference between being proud and being obnoxious."but going "I'm gay and this is offensive to me, OP is a troll, this post should be deleted" is not it.
Guess what camp this thread (Or at least the original post) falls into? And all of this is assuming you aren't a troll.
There was one single post that was even remotely close to a 'personal' attack on you. And perhaps if you didn't immediately turn to trying to troll (Or 'lighten the mood' as you put itcause people got really serious to the point that many were personal attacking me out of *no where* that's not relevant to the topic of this thread.), people would take it more seriously. Food for thought.
Actually that's not what happened at all, it turned into a "What type of visibility is good visibility for the homosexual community?" which is a perfectly valid discussion.instead it got turned into a Homo vs hetro thread.
And some people need to realize that their actions, no matter how minor, have direct repercussions on the perceptions other people have on the community you're busy squeeing over. Good and bad.People need to not be so SERIOUS all the time.
And in general, @the thread:
I have zero issues discussing these sorts of things. My issue was entirely with the way it was brought up, and the frequency that a thread along these lines pop up. I don't even frequent the forums and I still have seen a fair share of them. If a friend hadn't pointed this out to me, I would never have even noticed my post was deleted. I'll happily discuss the topic all day, but I'm also not going to go out of my way to go "HORREE CRAP SE TANKS 4 DA REPREZENTASHUN!" As I have said already, personally I am of the mindset that things such as this couple should simply be an "Oh, neat." Not everyone will agree that that is sufficient, and that's perfectly okay too. If that is the case, make a thread akin to "Thanks SE for inserting this couple neatly into the game without forcing it!", not "First ever gay couple NPC's (Which is already wrong): OMG it was so cute, the miqo'te was sooooo good looking..." etc.
Sigh. Such a foolish series of events. I could babble for a lot longer on this, but my point has been made. Moving right along.
EDIT: And you edited your post (OP) after I posted this.
Yeah, thanks for proving my point.Anyway, whats done is done but my statement still rings true, that black miq, gimmie, that one needs a LALA in his life over that other guy =3
