Okay so the ninja was trolling on first boss and caused wipe.

PT didn't kick him when if hes typing - they should all see him not moving and throwing down insults.

Well maybe not blm but the healer should see everything.

But yeah OP - I'm going to say they were his friends or just well dumb because if I was in your group I would have booted him after first wipe.

Ain't nobody got time for qq.

Reminds me back in the days for wows when people would threaten to leave the raid when spouses wouldn't get gear.

I love how half the responses here blame the victim for not being "nice enough." This happened to me, too, recently, minus the vote kick, and they (addressed me by name, so it was obviously a party of three who queued together) decided that my response not being "nice" was all the excuse they needed to cop a superior attitude and insult and mistreat me for the rest of the run. They wanted to make it very clear that all of it was my fault, though I suspect even if I had declined "politely" they would have found some other way to decide I was the bad guy.

People like that, who drop any pretense of politeness at the first sign of rejection, are scum, through-and-through.

If the op was rude for his response, then the ninja was rude for asking. Neither were loaded with courtesy words. It was a direct question and a direct answer. There's no need to think a declining response is hostile, but people will read into it however they want. I don't think you were rude OP. There's too much that gear can be used for.

That being said, I think there are some bothersome things about looting situations in general, like geared healers rolling need on items 10-20 levels (ilvl or otherwise) below them for glamour. In my opinion, needing for glamour is rude. You don't need it, you just want it.

One other thing to consider, though, is this: a player might have just returned to the game or gotten a class to 50. I don't think it's rude to ask if people are okay with passing when it might not be feasible for that person to bring that job when it would be undergeared. But acting immature when someone would rather not is unacceptable.

Again, if you play as the class who CAN lot the gears, and you WANT it for glamour, you have FULL total rights to do so, even if you don't need the gears other than for completing your collection. End of story. If the other players have a healer, then he should come as healer and lot for it. If his healer is "under geared" then by all means, SPAM Syrcus Tower yes? I am sure by now, everyone realize this easy level 100 gears that can be had doing rather easy raid...

You're entitled to your opinion but no it's not RUDE to roll on an item for glamour. I do it all the time. I have every bit as much right as anyone to a particular piece of gear. It's rude to expect people to pass because you feel you are more entitled to it.

Whats the difference in needing for glamour or needing for GC Seals / Desynth?

Doing a low level dungeon for a book. I forget which one it was. I usually will pass on most things, if a "need" option pops I'll sometimes select it maybe for glamour or to just turn it into seals. One time had someone "why do you "need" that you're level 50" I just replied "because I can". Never heard a reply. Maybe came off a bit dickish, but like you said anyone in that instance has equal rights to all for whatever reason and there should be no questions asked.

Iirc, there was a thread on these forums about needing for glamour. The general concensus was that it is OK to do so.

I myself questioned this at one point, but luckily I found that thread before making a scene.

You can call my opinion wrong, but I still don't agree. Talk about it until you're blue in the face, but there are fundamental differences between want and need. Need should encapsulate anything that is an upgrade to your class and will statistically advance you. Glamour, seals, and any other function should be greed. In my *opinion* anything else is simple selfishness or a sense of entitlement in a game where gearing other classes is made difficult even though one of the hallmarks is being able to play all classes on one character. I don't have to adhere to or agree with a general consensus if I believe otherwise, and stating my opinion is not making a scene . That's all I'll say about that.
