ITT: 2 pages worth of ignoring the comment about how this will never happen at the very least due to not giving RMT free lvl 50's.
Edit: guess page claim makes that 3, or 2.somethin.

Back on Topic:
You also have to remember SE and Yoshi-P have a Job Storyline to tell for these Jobs as well so they need a way to apply the Job Storyline to DK, Mach, and Astro at a steady rate.
Starting at lvl 50 will not give them much room to provide a Proper storyline unless they cram it all into lvl 50 to lvl 60 (either make all Job Storyline Quest not require a level or 1 Job quest per level through lvl 50 to 60.)
Currently now the Job Storyline follows a 5 level per Job Quest to progress the Job Storyline but as of now we can assume DK, Mach, and Astro may follow this concept of their Job Storyline progressing every 5 levels as well unless farther info arrives saying their Job Storyline will progress differently.

It really is easy to speculate. The only thing we do know is that these jobs do not have base classes. That fact alone could easily infer any number of design choices the dev team may take. I think many of us are interested in knowing that this means for a number of things...
* Does this imply larger changes to the class/armory/job system as we know it today?
* Do these jobs simply introduce a new type of job (i.e. class and job are one in the same or some type of advanced job)?
I'd rather have a bad tank who is new to tanking than to have a decent tank who is a veteran tanker.
I am somewhere in Nowhere, but nowhere in Somewhere.
What? The hell do you consider casual?!? I must be leveling wrong because I'm nowhere near that fast.
.
Honestly I hope it takes much longer to get to 60 than it is from 1-50 because the game is way too fast. Should atleast take 1 week for hardcore players and for casual 2 weeks.
to get from 50-60

50/60 would be hilariously bad as a design choice. Level 1 would be likely, but that's only because the statement they made about it, "Being available to anyone who buys Heavensward" can be taken all kinds of ways. I personally think level 30 makes the most sense.
After the expansion, that's halfway to 60, which allows a comfortable entrance into the game for new players and returning players alike. People coming back for DRK don't want to re-level from scratch. New (and returning) players want to be involved in end-game content as quickly as possible. Fast-tracking both crowds of players has a lot of benefits, with very few detriments.
There's no argument to be had about 'learning a Job' either. 1-15/16 is solo content. 16-30 is dungeons, which involves doing partial, broken rotations with very few cooldowns to manage. It's fodder content, basically. At that, it's only like 12-13 dungeons, which is barely much more than 7-8 hours (10 max) of game time. You aren't learning much in that time frame. However, once you hit 30, things start getting interesting, for a lot of Jobs. You get things to actually manage, that actually make a big difference to DPS/healing/support/mitigation.
The only real reason for them to start them at level 1 is for consistency sake. In terms of game systems, and in terms of Job/Class story.

Well, me for starters. I am a casual player - full time job - full time college - a fiance - so I don't spend all day gaming, and still it takes that amount of time to level a job. The only time it took me longer to level a job was my first job, because I was one of those annoying assholes you ALL hate who actually watched cut-scenes and read dialogue to take in all the lore. So it took me almost a week to reach 50 on my first job. But that was just me being lazy and not pushing at all for levels, but rather just enjoying all the side quests and lore.
Just a note, though, you not being that fast in no ways says you are doing something wrong. It just says that you take your time and soak in more around you is all. My response was aimed at the people who are just focused on leveling and not really doing anything else but seeing about getting to max level.
This was specifically said at the London fan fest. No ulocks, no getting to level 10. Just own the expansion and you can start as a Dark Knight. As someone who was at Fan Fest I can confirm that Yoshi said that anyone can unlock and play any of the new jobs as soon as they buy the expansion. That means there are no unlock requirements beyond owning the expansion. If a new player can unlock these jobs with ease there is no way they'll start at a higher level.
Other mmos have done hero jobs when they come out with new jobs in an expansion so players won't have to replay all the levels they done before, so its not as farfetched as people think. But SE didn't say anything about doing this.
