Regarding Actions Taken Against RMT & Other Illicit Activities 2/12/2015

    Time Period: Feb. 5, 2015 to Feb. 11, 2015
    - Accounts receiving disciplinary action for RMT advertising: 521
    - Accounts receiving disciplinary action for RMT/illicit activity: 7,283
    - Action Details: Permanent ban from FINAL FANTASY XIV

    - Accounts receiving disciplinary action for participation in RMT/illegal activity: 102
    - Action Details: Temporary ban from FINAL FANTASY XIV

Time to change that Temporary ban for the players buying gil to permanent ban.

Every person who subs to this game understands the ramifications RMT has on the game, and every single one of them agreed to the TOS.

No more slap on the wrists. If you are blatantly buying gil it should be one strike and your out. If you want to quell the amount of RMT that's going on in this game, impose severe punishment for the people creating the problem:

PERMANENTLY BAN THE ONES WHO BUY THE GIL

In WoW you just get a little letter politely asking you to stop buying gold.

Cut it off at the head. Follow the trail and take the account with the majority of the Gil, they have to start all over again and purchase a new account.
Permabanning the people buying it does nothing to the overall picture.

Besides, everyone has dirty RMT Gil in their bags from somewhere. Be glad they're not gung-ho about it like before and start taking money/locking accounts for people being rich like they did at release.

Gonna devil's-advocate this one. I despise RMT, but consider this:

This is a more difficult decision for game companies than you think.

On some level, people who buy virtual currency still want to play the game. For some reason or another, they feel that in order to get what they want out of it, they have to turn to RMT. Still, because they're willing to put in what, as they see it, is still an investment, is something that game mods need to stop and think about before swinging the ban hammer.

This is why temporary suspensions are handed out. It serves as a dissuasion. I wouldn't doubt for a second that if caught red-handed twice, they're out for good, but this is why they're getting a punishment that most would see as too lenient. Square-Enix wants to keep people who enjoy the game around, otherwise they get no money themselves. Thus, second chances.

    consider this :

RMT sell gil, someone buy gils, with those bought gils he buys some material on the market board, making de facto the one that sold the goods in the marketboard a complice of the one that bought it why? because the market board seller got illicit money, so in a way he too bought gils from the RMT but without knowing it.

You sure you want to ban permanently the one that buys gils`?

Pushing a bit more the reasoning, and admitting that the original buyer get caught and banned, the whole chain should be brought back to initial statut.s Meaning the one that used the gils bought illegaly to buy legally stuff on the market board see those goods taken away given back to the one that wanted to sell them and the money that the one that sold them on the market board removed ..was all illicit right ?...see the point?

consider that there may some innocent victims in this....it isnt a black and white thing...there are implications...so when you demand that someone be banned permanently make sure you do not condamn an innocent and make sure that the *justice* be fair all the way if it is illicite is illicite for everybody on the chain

Again, you sure you want to ban permanently those that bought gils, based on what I said above.... dont think is theorical because is not so

That is the most absurd illogical way of thinking. Yes there is dirty money trading hands on the market board. But a person selling goods on the board, unknowingly receiving dirty money from a person who bought gil doesn't make them a gil buyer as well.

If SE goes after the buyers who directly receive gil from a seller through mail, trade, or marketboard manipulation (buying an item at an unreasonably high cost i.e a single iron ore for 10,000,000) and issues them a permanent ban on the first strike it would create such a disruption to the gil sellers demand that they would have to eventually close shop.

If SE issued a permanent ban to those 102 players who bought the gil. That news would travel through out the FFXIV community and make a legit player think twice about partaking in RMT.

perma-banning 102 players for buying gil would do more good than bad. losing 100 players here and there isn't a big deal. Letting RMT run rampant is.
