    - Healers will sometimes go VIT to make up HP-thresholds in fights (Ours did when SCoB Savage came out, and also during T13 progression).
    - On that token, our BLM actually went VIT for a while during T13 to not be one-shotted on megaflares. Same for our DRG during T10 progression (Before M.Def fix).
    - Some WHM's will eventually make the swap between full MND to PIE.
    - BLM's also sometimes use the points to make up racial PIE difference.
    - Tanks constantly swap between VIT and STR to accommodate between Survival and more DPS.

Just because you haven't found a use to it, doesn't mean others haven't. Removing options is never a good thing, and this allocated points allow you to swap stats at a moments notice. If you think that's useless you haven't really put thought into it.

Which is funny, because the tank's job isn't DPS, it's holding aggro, and you don't need STR to hold aggro.

Do you know what's actually funny ? It's the fact that you don't seem to grasp that hate is generated via : Damage Done * X where X is the enmity modifier. Tanks use physical skills which damage are based upon STR so we can go back to elementary school math with the following: More STR = More damage = More threat. Tanks being capable of doing more damage also bring a benefit to the raid when they have more than enough survability.

It's funnier to see you didn't even know that while maining a paladin.

This is true, but that's only the start. STR also helps block incoming damage (useful for tanks), and allows WAR to self-heal through actions and abilities, which makes it both an offensive and defensive stat. I see a lot of PLDs go full on STR lately too although I imagine it's more effective for WAR due to the amount of self heals and higher damage in general.

A good STR based tank can compete with other DPS in terms of damage at times. My WAR sucks and I don't tank very often but it's funny to see 2k crits in dungeons with crappy gear.

I don't need STR to hold aggro, you are right. But I don't need 12,000 hit points for ANYTHING in this game either, so why wouldn't I have more str?
