I believe it was a premonition because you're fired.

And where did SE expressively stated Tanaka got fired? For all we know, he resigned and Yoshida stepped up.

And not to mention Hyun-Kyu Park will very much likely not getting fired. After all, he's the major shareholder of Bluehole Studio.

He wasn't fired. He's still Senior VP of Software Development and is still in charge of XI. He and his team were just taken off of XIV because his vision for the game was a train wreck.

He was fired, that's why he's not top guy anymore. He was just given a lower position as a consolation for his talents. Koreans just used to free to play mmos and because of the poor economy, not inclined to paying a monthly subscription fee. It's a much different situation in NA, where free to play games are considered suckage. Even if Tera is considered incomplete now, it still is more complete than FFXIV. I would say one more year, and FFXIV will have a really good game. I'm not even interested in any dungeon gear drops as they aren't much of a change in stats or looks from regular weapons and armor, and not worth sacrificing inventory space for. The rank 45 boss is definitely a challenge but I despise the rest of the dungeon and its mobs the way they are setup.

Ah ha ha ha Korean is used to F2P. Nexus - Kingdom of the Wind, Ragnarok Online, Lineage, Lineage 2, Aion are all P2P games, and they are pretty much equivalent to how UO, EQ or even WoW are in the West.

If you didn't live or grew up in Asia, you probably wouldn't understand. Most people cannot afford to have their own system, that's why internet cafes are so popular, they are an after ditching school activity for most kids high school and below. A $10-20 monthly subscription can probably feed your family for a week or even a month. They sell game cards which gives you a certain number of hours of play or they simply play by how many minutes or hours they can afford to pay the internet cafe attendant. It's the internet cafes buying the games mostly and sometimes pirating it. So yeah, with a tightening economy, those internet cafes are making less due to kids having to show up less, therefore subscription based games suffer. There are exceptions such as people who hold professional jobs of course.

In the US, most people can easily build Tri-SLI GTX 580s with 1500 watt power supplies on 3 46" monitors and easily pay that monthly subscription off, because that's like a few hours of work at McDonalds or daily lunch money allowance. Even homeless people have internet and cellphones.
