And yet not long after, they mentioned that you would lose your house after 35 days, which was only retracted because of the overwhelmingly negative feedback. I won't even go into the mess that was personal housing. You can't trust everything they say.FYI YoshiP said this is a thing of the past.

Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Please note that, previously the idea of 35days was "just no access your house for 35days regardless your logon status / having sub or not".
And this idea was introuduced before Personal Housing, at that moment, most players did not expect Personal Housing will be so similar to FC Housing. ^^;
But you can't access the house unless if you're subbed. My small FC is taking a break together. If this was implemented, we would have lost our house as a result because none of us were subbed to access the house. Which is contrary to the quote of what they said they would not do. So, I reiterate, you can't trust what they say.Please note that, previously the idea of 35days was "just no access your house for 35days regardless your logon status / having sub or not".

Greetings,
Thank you for all the feedback on this.
Based on all of the comments, we’ll be spending a bit more time looking into the automatic removal of land and house feature again, and we expect to implement it sometime after patch 2.4. Once the details have been finalized we will be sure to make an announcement.
