FYI - below was the last official words regarding this matterBut you can't access the house unless if you're subbed. My small FC is taking a break together. If this was implemented, we would have lost our house as a result because none of us were subbed to access the house. Which is contrary to the quote of what they said they would not do. So, I reiterate, you can't trust what they say.
Greetings,
Thank you for all the feedback on this.
Based on all of the comments, we’ll be spending a bit more time looking into the automatic removal of land and house feature again, and we expect to implement it sometime after patch 2.4. Once the details have been finalized we will be sure to make an announcement.

I say it should depend on the server. In my server all of the Globet (all. of. it) was empty when I was shopping for a house. It... perhaps, had one house? Maybe? In my opinion once ALL of the plots are taken (ALL of them), then a countdown should start where a person hasn't logged on in three months it goes up for sale and a voucher gets returned for at least 90% of the value plus ALL the items. Everyone is entitled to want a house in a specific place, I understand that (personally I think the Goblet is ugly) but I don't think people should start losing housing when there's a completely empty place they could purchase it.

Then only people with money would be able to get a home anyways :\ I don't craft or spirit bond or anything. I saved for months with another person JUST to be able to afford the small house at it's cheapest, then we had to save again JUST for the permit. And for a very long time I couldn't even teleport because I was so broke. Don't think it's fair that people who are playing the game very casually (like me) and have a hard time making gil should lose their homes because they can't afford a rent. And if it's real money that's worse lol I don't even pay my own sub xD I can't afford it.
I have a large fc house full of furniture which im pretty sure me and one other person are the only people who access it regularly, but more importantly I have a large private house which I have invested a good chunk of time in getting and also adding furniture, if they add a time out countdown where I will lose that which I have gained it would not be fair
I don't care if they give you a voucher and store your furniture, because as you know people wouldn't be able to replace their house if there was none available, also what about the unique furniture that is destroyed on removal.. that stuff is not cheap to craft or buy, would the people lose that stuff.??
if there going to take away housing from people it should be the people who have multiple houses for alt characters, although I too think that is not fair. they implemented this feature, its not the fault of the house owners that there is not enough to go around,
strange awareness of ghosts that no longer haunt this shell.

I think if you are subscribed and still playing the game, you should not lose your house. However, if you have been unsubscribed for over 90 days, I think that it is fair enough to lose the house because most people will not come back to the game if they left it for so long. Also, if this is made one of the rules of housing and people still choose to unsubscribe for so long, it is your own choice and should not compliant of losing the house after 90 days.
That's why they also need to remove completely this -destroyed on removal- thing...
If all abandonned houses are removed (talking about 90+ days of inactivity) and ALL furnitures and money are given back to the house owner, there won't be anymore problems. We'll still need more plots? maybe, but not as much as now...
Tbh me and my husband have been looking for a small plot on our server & the amount of bare abandoned small houses is astonishing yet we can do nothing about it at all, I really hope SE can figure something out because it would be a shame if our virtual married couple cannot be like our rl selves![]()

Why? This is my hobby, I put a lot of time into gathering the gil for the house, it is not just something that will spontaneously leave my interests if I am left without internet or stable access to a computer for a few months. I would be very disappointed to see when things in my life got under control that everything I had enjoyed previously was gone.
They could just, like, make the housing system infinitely better by making it more accessible and doing away with the ridiculous "limited supply".
But whatever; I don't really care at all because I am never ever going to be able to afford even the smallest rinky-dink little hovel.
