The tanks I run around with the most are a catboy and a Roe, I trust them both to keep me from getting eaten.

This thread got me thinking about how I became an Elezen Monk because I wanted to be a lanky kong stick man swinging fists like a gomu gomu no from halfway across the room, then it got me thinking, why haven't I seen a single Elezen Tank, like ever, hmmmmmmm
Anyway, Obligtuary insert about how cat people need to be deleted, for science.
I take what I like and I like what I take!

Also, *Hissssss* >;o
I dunno, I feel like most people wouldn't openly admit to being so hard-wired for racial profiling that they're doing it in with video game fantasy races.

Well, really, anyone that's good isn't gonna get mad, and anyone that's bad is gonna get mad. That being said, catgirl tanks are true pro tanks! ;D
Miq'ote legend speaks of a Hyur female who fell in love with the spirit of a great, tall tree, their union was blessed by the twelve and a new people resulted. That people grew in number over many ages, their ears grew wider, their chins pointier, and their legs even longer. As they grew taller this people could not avoid looking down upon the shorter peoples of the world. Strong warrirors and valiant defenders for their homeland, they were a people to be admired. However, after millenia of looking down upon others this new people with a great affinity for the trees of the Twelveswood, felt that they were the natural leaders of the lesser (shorter) peoples of the forests. They became convinced of their own superiority to all who they look down upon. They became haughty.
Our legend does not name this great nation of haughtiness, but it does finish with a warning to all Miq'ote, and other peoples;
"Beware those who you look up to, for they in turn will look down their noses upon you."
Obviously such legends are merely stories passed from one generation to the next and have no basis in Eorzean life. Though one rendition of the legend does describe the great forests as a shroud that covers the land protecting it's peoples, but Keeper scholars believe that this could be a mis-translation of an ancient form of the word shield.

The game itself supports some level of racial profiling though. A large number of Roe NPCs are shown in tanking roles, specifically marauder. Likewise, there is a good amount of Miqo'te NPCs who are archers or arcanists. Elezen tend to be shown as lancers or conjurers. Hyurs tend to be gladiators or pugilists. Lalafell tend to be thaumaturges or usually shown as miners/botonists/fishers.
Now these are mainly due to NPCs sticking to lore-defined cultural norms, but when players are exposed to these norms, our own perception of races/jobs can get skewed.
You are forgiven now![]()

<--gives every miqo'te in the thread a ball of yarn :3
Also, roes don't always make great tanks. I've seen stacks of office paper take worse beatings than some of the tanks I've come across.
<--Giver of yarns, not the giver of darns :3

The most reliable tank I know is myself. You should see me when I'm not tanking or when the other tank in an 8 person duty bolts before I can. D:
