I enjoy the quests too but 30,000 SP? That's about 1/3 of the SP required to hit 49 or 50. By that logic you should be able to hit those levels by doing a three quests in a short portion of your day.

I just wish they'd give us some kind of option to select what class the SP is going to. All too often I'm already talking to the quest NPC by the time I remember to switch off my R50 >.>

I left FFXI for a reason.. I don't want to go back to it! FFXIV can be unique without having to resort to FFXI's tired methods, the foremost of which is the party grind. The inability to do anything efficiently by oneself (especially leveling up) is a big turn off for a lot of people, including myself.

I'm all for group content, but not when it is the only viable way to progress your character.

Do leves at high ranks .Everyone saying 100k sp omg how i get that , is 2 leve reset , 3 at most.
There seems to be misconception to what they did to leves, they still give a whole load of sp.(40-50k sp per reset) for level 40 camps.
they already admitted level 30 sp procces was broken , so im gonna assume they refering to leves in lv 30 camps.( this ones give small quantity of sp)
I dont see what is the problem here.I was 48 with 0 sp into it mrd and i missed tons of leve resets and im like 30k to 50 just soloing leves when i remember to do it.

I was pretty excited to return in 1.18. The more I play, the more I realize this game is still sinking, just at a slower pace. The amount of wrong that they are trying to right is just far too large.

I'm afraid that even after they feel they have the game at a respectable level, it still won't be the modern MMO we all expected. This game is hanging onto too much of the past.

    Loading screens between zones.. still?

VERY poor mob pathing and leashing. When I pull a mob I want it to come to me, not blast me twice from range and then run figure 8s around the zone and randomly come skidding sideways into my xp group.

Convoluted mechanics like the gate to the boat docks and having to click a menu to stand up after using /sit. (Small I know, but stuff like this makes the game feel like its limping on old technology)

Game still feels clunky and awkward (slightly less since the removal of the stamina bar) why on earth does this game feel so sluggish? Makes XI feel like hack and slash.

These things scare me more than the amount of dungeons they slap into the game or if they add a search feature.

    thank you for recognizing.
i feel the need to post everytime someone says 'well id rather have more zones with zone lines than no zone lines and copy paste" and im always like "OMG WE HAVE COPY PASTE AND ZONE LINES.... FFXIV IS NOT OPEN WORLD LIKE EVERY OTHER MMO"

I like grinding parties, and I'm pretty sure alot of people were asking for the same. It promotes skillful play and also gets people adjusted to new skills and responsibilities in PTs. To me, running around talking to NPCs and going to different locations is just as monotonous as you say grind PTs are. A balance of both would be fine but only if they have similar rewards in respect to SP/Hr in my opinion or else you get people from either side complaining. As one of the people who posted early in this thread said, grind PTs make the game more sociable and doesn't feel as antisocial as running around by yourself talking to NPCs. If they could work large amounts of SP into something similar to FFXI BCNMs as an alternative that would be awesome. Variety is key in my opinion for the good of the community, although I will stick to grinding.

... especially considering so many others have tried to follow that same formula and have had very underwhelming results.

WoW already exists for those who want that kind of game. For those who want something *like* WoW but not actually WoW... there are games like Rift, WAR, LoTRO, etc. etc..

I'd personally much rather SE take inspiration from how other MMOs are implementing certain elements... but do it in a way that feels truly "Final Fantasy". Don't just copy it wholesale. That would put the game squarely into the realm of "YAWC" (Yet Another WoW Clone).

As it is, some of the changes they've made are leaning it that way.

It's like I said before, they'll go along and add the much anticipated search tool and a big green LFP icon over peoples heads. Then the real eye opener will come when people start trying to pt and the glaring issues start to show, like the terrible delay on abilities and the extremely poor mob behavior I mentioned above. The game is more than lacking, its completely broken at its foundation.

No sneak/invis powders or spells just scream aggravation for random groups getting to camp.

I mean COME ON, its been almost a year and we have auto attack and 2 dungeons. How long is everyone willing to keep saying "next patch".

I don't like to pull the WoW card but really, does SE have a group of 5 men sitting in a small room spamming code? Cata was released little less than a year ago and blizzard is already preparing to announce their next expansion, and here we are a year later with SE saying please wait a bit longer for a decent loot distribution tool.

I love Final Fantasy and I've always loved SE but I'm at the point where I almost feel bad for them with this game. They have to realize they are so so far behind the curve, yet apparently can't do anything about it. It's like watching a sports team lose 10 games in a row but still go out fighting each day only to get stomped on.

In turn I offer them my condolences and a friendly hug. I hope the next mmo they are talking about is approached from a different angle, looking at modern game engines and scrapping the love affair with console based UIs.

Who is complaining about running around?

I for one enjoy the quests. I'd like nothing more than to run around for 1 hour on a quest, but I should get 30,000 SP for doing so.
So we can have r50 Tanks who can't tank, and r50 healers who can't heal? Good job.
