As someone who plays games on both ends of the spectrum, I can say that both ends have their issues. As of late I've been playing on the PS3 due to the fact my computer has been dying, but that was due to necessity. To be a bit on topic with the OP, YES I have been seeing problems with staying connected while on PS3. Friends on PC haven't had these problems as well.

What I read here can be summed up in a few lines. "HURR PC MASTAER RAEC CONSULS SUX!" "PCS IS STOOPID AND FR CASULS"(Good lord that hurt to write, I apologize) And for those that think consoles last 10 years, that was one generation. If that's how you think all generations of consoles are supposed to be then you are rather entitled.

My point of view for "ending" this petty argument(because it is).
You want a box you can drop next to the TV, hook up and start playing? Get a console.
You want power and something you can tinker with? Get a PC.

Sadly it's not even that simple anymore. I bought a pretty solid gaming PC last year and it lives in my living room. I've got a wireless mouse and keyboard on it that sit on my coffee table in front of me. I exclusively play games that use controller on this machine. Lots of games these days are cross platform to PC and many have controller UI's built in such that the experience is identical to console, but with far better graphical fidelity. That said your simplification is adequate for most people.

On topic: There isn't anything that SE can do with PSN being down. It is Sony's call requiring that certain functions require the PSN servers for authentication.

Off topic: PCs, PS3 & PS4 are great for gaming. End of story. Slightly unrelated - I have a Rock Candy knock off of a 360 controller and FFXIV recognizes it. I don't use the controller to play as I am more familiar with mouse & keyboard.

The fact is its not just an issue with the psn requirement its that it's limiting playability because it's a requirement and its unfair DONT EVEN BRING UP ANY THING PC RELATED TO THIS I SWEAR BY THE WARDEN I WILL DESTROY YOU. Any way just make it fair if we gota be limited by this I say they take the whole game down to run their own maintenance so that it's fair until they get their act together and march right in to Sony and get the requirement removed.

I never will because that's ignorant to say and you certainly haven't seen me say it in this thread. Of course a decent pc, even a low end one, will be pricier than a console. Things get muddled a little when you consider monthly subs for online access and extra controllers and whatnot but PCs get just as crazy. A lot of people are definitely confused about the cost of a decent pc. One comparable to a ps4 in price wouldn't even be worth building imo. I'd rather save twice the money and double down to do it right instead of scraping by with the reqs for 1 game.

It moves to my desk sometimes when I want to play a more modern KB+mouse oriented game. It's a gray zone between the two because of the flexibility. If anything my post specifically shows that gray zones do exist outside of those two archetypes and therefore does not prove your point as you seem to think it does. PCs can fit multiple form factors and uses and are quite flexible. Also, I didn't "tinker" with it. Right out of the box windows, with an xbox 360 controller, and an HDMI out to my TV worked automatically. That's how it's designed to function.

Still, hopefully people will finally stop trying to have their 'side' win. As I've said before, it is a pointless argument, for one person a PC is the right solution, it's not the right solution for others, which of course infers the opposite which is that for another player the console is the right solution, but it's not the solution for others.

Sadly platform discussions always boil down to 'sides' and a desire to 'win'. No matter the merits of the discussion, people stick to their position making further discussion pointless.

As for the parts of this thread being "PC versus Console" - that's comparing apples to oranges. People love consoles . . . people love PCs . . . it's all user preference. Both platforms can handle games like FFXIV just fine. In the case of this thread it's the guy's internet. Weather it's a cheap router, cheap modem or cheap service, either way his personal experience with connection isn't PSN.
