But they branch from the same class. What would be the point of allowing Dark Knights, a job that's been classified as a two handed user, to use a one handed sword?

I doubt they're going to reuse old 1 handed sword models, make them bigger and try to pass them as 2 handed swords. It could have been done just for the picture, but the user who raised the question did it because the model used it's clearly the Weathered Burtgang.

I think that is just the lalafell sized version of the Dark Knight ilvl 100 Two-handed sword. You have to remember that Lalafell will have their two-handed sword size adjusted to be smaller than the other races as a Dark Knight so most likely for a Lalafell that is the average size for their Two-handed sword as a Dark Knight.

Actually it's just the PLD's Burtgang, so no it's not a Two-handed sword at all. It's probably just a PLD Lalafell doing the PLD /cpose caught in motion before it finished the entire emote fully, I've seen other PLD's capture similar screenshots using FRAPS, or just timing it correctly.

Well it is possible for a Giant two-handed version of Burtgang for DK but with a different name.

I can say with confidence (given I'm currently in game on my PLD) that the /cpose for our battle idle does not ever go into a pose like the one that Lalafell has. That's literally the DRK battle idle:



Like seriously. Exact same pose. Even if the sword being held is a one-hander available to PLDs at the moment, that is still the DRK pose exactly. Which leads one to believe either SE just did something silly for the promotional image by giving a one-hander to a DRK, or that means DRKs will be able to use one-handed swords in addition to their actual two-handers.

All speculation, no proof atm. So no reason to jump the gun at all. There is no real proof that is a DRK, it could be a stunt for just that picture, but what I can prove is that is definitely the Burtgang model being used, whether it's a reskin I can't say, since I have no info. about DRK weapons.

But the one the lolafail is using is bigger than the Buttgang model for lolafails that we already have. It's almost the same size height wise as the lolafail, with the one handed version isn't.

Chances are they used that model because its the one which looks closest to Clouds oversized sword.
It's not the 1handed Buttgang But a 2hander using the same, enlarged, model.

Are you legitimately blind? It's the exact same pose. I don't have to work for SE to see that is clearly a DRK job being presented, regardless of what that sword is. At this point no one even cares about whether DRKs can use one-handers or not (though personally it'd make sense to me, but anyway), it's just the fact that you are denying that a DRK is being shown, with the exact same pose shown in the DRK showoff, simply because the sword happens to be a one-hander.

Please, there is no need for "proof" it's a DRK. That is a DRK pose. PLDs cannot go into a pose like that at all, not even with a frame-by-frame FRAPS editing. I have been unsheathing my sword for a good few minutes now, watching myself go into my /cpose. The movement of the body and the positions it goes into are nowhere close to that pose. That is legitimately the DRK battle idle. Please stop acting as if it's not clearly a DRK just because of that bloody sword it's using good god.
