    Skill Speed, Ragnarok

So I have a friend who's made me the i110 accessories, and I opted for Vit ones because STR materia is half the price of VIT on my server. However, I'm quickly noticing as I replace Ruby accessories that i definately FEEL the loss of skill speed.

I can afford to put some skill speed on some pieces without issue, I'm just not sure if it'd be work it. Also I'm already working in respecing my Ragnarok (way back when I put Parry on it, and have opted to remove that stat)... so I'm wondering if I shouldn't just put skill speed on my Axe to make it that much easier.

Any thoughts? I already own the Vit accessories, like I said, they were gifted to me. So I intend to put Strength and a secondary stat.

I'm just curious... and I suppose my question really comes down to how rich someone is as to how willing they are to throw money at something for a minor benefit. So, my question is:

Why not just get upgraded STR Soldiery Trinkets and spend your Poetics on VIT trinkets and just switch between each set on the fly? Isn't a set of 110 crafting trinkets plus all the melds you have to throw in already run you nearly 20, 30 mil gil for a full set?

I guess I'm just poor, but I don't see it being worth this. Hell, my Novus melds ran me 2 mil and I wanted to cry.

STR/VIT mix and match is the cheap option. Ruby/Topaz/Platinum is the expensive option. Just depends on how much gil you're willing to spend to play your job as optimal as possible, but really there isn't much else to spend gil on outside of vanity.

SS is valued higher than Det until you reach the point where you can hit the 9GCD zerk. Optimally your Ragnarok should be melded with Crit/Det or Det/Acc or Crit/Det/Acc and then getting the SS from your accessories. If you can't manage this, then melding SS on your axe is an option and not a terrible one by any means.

I suppose spending Gil on FC members too has something to do with my poor state as well. Saving up for Large House, future FC content, etc. Really though, I've probably spent most of my earnings on fellow FC members. But at least we're nearing the 200 member mark.

You want 390ish SS. Whether it's accessories gear or rag. WoD drops SS gear and coil hands have 20 SS.

Hmm.. why did I think it was 421?

Anyhoo, I'm cheap. I wouldn't even have the i110 accessories yet had someone not been exceptionally generous. I didn't get my ruby accessories until a few months ago, and even there I stopped after 4/5

Because Xeno had that much SS when he made his guide. The exact number is 376 but most people need 390-400 for latency reasons. 420 is way too much.

Sounds like I'll only need 35 Skill Speed on the Axe for 376, then the Dreadworm gloves will take care of the extra 20 buffer. Then I can do whatever I like with accessory melds. Which is nice since I keep STR sets, Vit Sets and Hybrid sets depending on what I'm doing (Level sync/hunts/everything else) and I can keep the same swings regardless of set.

    I re-spec'd my Ragnarok today.

I also missed the skill speed I had from lv110 soldiery/2nd coil gear (was around 420), and just like you, I also have some crafted lv110 VIT/STR accessories that I made myself (so it was almost no cost at all since I grabbed all the mats and had most if not all grade IV materia I needed)

Pretty much none of the Ironworks nor Dreadwyrm gear has skill speed, and the lack of it was really noticeable for me in FCoB on Warrior. (skill speed went down to 350-ish as i upgraded my gear)

Ironworks and Dreadwyrm have tons of parry, so i removed a lot of those from my relic and put skill speed instead. (I have 390 skill speed now)
    I'm very glad I did, I don't regret it.

Thank you for this topic, I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who felt that way about warrior skill speed loss on 2.4-2.5 new gear.
