Also, isnt a good Dark Knight a Paladin?

And I agree, Good or Evil are subjective. I'm sure the Jihadists believe they are doing the greatest good for their people and the rest of humanity, you cant convince someone to do those kinds of things just for the sake of evil, the greatest evil comes from the best of intentions.
I think in a number of games they are actually evil, but personally doubt they'll do that in FFXIV since the players would then no longer fit in with everyone else. However, it would be kind of awesome story-line where you shift teams "You're my only hope _____" Says Minifilla, meanwhile in your Dark Knight quest line you're learning terrible power from Ascians and setting her up with the bomb. lol. Still don't think they'd do that but, what a change of pace that'd be XD.

Also for moral relativism fun, just because you may see the Jihadists actions as bad - it would not empower your opinion any further than their's if only except in group think power where a system generally bound to popular opinion would vote upon the morality. So was it really a great evil of good intentions or a great good of good intentions (not that I personally see it is good of course, awful, but the fear of what moral relativism means is probably what turns a lot of people to forced structures)? Can you imagine if we had to start every sentence with "in my world view" :P. Although I try to "imo" a lot in the forums because it seems people when they disagree will try at anything to tear your personal character down.

I mean I don't mind a clash of opinions, but so often it turns into "you like grass, you must be an idiot" when you couldn't have just thought perhaps I have a great appreciation for nature looking good, that it was my opinion on visuals (which are like "blue is a good color"), and think that the quality (I could have proven this one) didn't match the rest of the game or its relative competition and I just wanted what I thought looked good and with a consistent visual narrative (there was a missing consistency, the idea that consistency is better of course is an opinion too though). Again, I think their 2.0 efforts were amazing and haven't even thought once to ask for a "fix".

It was stated quite clearly in Final Fantasy IV that eventually being steeped in darkness would corrupt Cecil. Least that's what King Fabul suspected. Sure maybe it's possible Cecil would never have fallen to the darkness but the odds were likely stacked against him.

Why would you want a new class go be just like an older class just without the stuff you don't like. Come on be original try something new.

Though I doubt something like this may happen to our Character due to plot armor and other stuff. Hard to say right now without knowing what type of DK FF14 is going to be but there is the possibility that the DK powers are not the "turn someone Evil or Mad" type of powers.

After all another aspect of Darkness is that Darkness is no different from light. It just "another side of the same coin" type of aspect how Darkness is also known to be interpreted as.

How about everytime we gain a new DK power from the DK Job quest we face our "Shadow" alone while "I'll face myself" Persona 4 theme is playing

    Jokes aside:

As of now my guesses are limited but DK being a Job where we will be using Darkness to fight against the Greater Evil of the world of FF14 through Main Scenario provides opening for countless different types of plot for their Job Story and lore reasoning. The whole moral questioning of right and wrong, light and darkness, good and evil is just the more common theme used for something like Dark Knight.

This game has never taken the stance that darkness is no different from light. I'd think the Crystal Tower raids would have gotten that across pretty clearly.

I expect it's going to be similar to the Warrior quest line, possibly with your character specifically being the one who nearly falls rather than somebody else. Possibly the final job quest will be you fighting yourself like how Cecil did when he became a Paladin though obviously you will not become a Paladin after :P

Ya but FF3 did perform that kind of theme for their story where it is shown too much light can endanger the counter part of the FF3 world while too much darkness endangers the FF3 world with both worlds having similar life styles for their citizens.

Warriors of Darkness serve to keep the light in check while the Warrior of Light keep the Darkness in check. A interesting subject they put into that game though sadly a short subject in FF3.

On the note of DK Final Job quest...

If that happens bet a lot of players will have "I'll Face myself" theme playing during that fight.
