Can someone give me an in-depth explanation why Summoner is arguably the worst DPS?

For progression, res is quite useful, it's just not recommended because of the limitation smn has on mana consumption but it greatly enhances the progression sequence. However on hardcore farming, I agree res is completely worthless..

And if they had had a SMN there using their raise, they would not have gotten the clear. So it's useless for hardcore progression and hardcore farming both.

Well that's not quite true either, after divebomb phase mana is regenerated by a decent much. Also, I would say this because I have res'd our healer/dps at one point and we did clear it, this actually happened multiple times, the recovery was very much possible. If that sch/whm didn't have swiftcast ready they would've been screwed anyway.

If a healer is low on mana the Bard will play mana song because it helps the raid if a Summoner runs out of mana from using battle Rez than s/he is screwed.
