It's actually the bridge to Ishgard.



In this image you can see that the first bridge is wider than the narrower one between the outer keep and Ishard itself. The dragon lands with its back to the keep, on the outer, wider bridge, which may suggest that it is a boss battle or a single instance fight for the end of 2.52.

The wider part on the lower left/middle?
That is the Gates of Judgement, which blocks our entrance to the city at the moment. The dragon seems to land on a part of the bridge further from land, if anything it lands on the narrower part right behind the Gates of Judgement (the part called "Steps of Faith" on the Coerthas Highlands Map)

To be fair, "Narrower" is kinda by comparison. I've been inside that outer keep and the gates of Judgment themselves are big enough for 10-20 Hyur sized PCs to walk through shoulder to shoulder so that inner bridge cant really be that small. And the keep seems to be two gates of judgment wide. So I'd wager that to PC/NPC sized beings that the bridge is a pretty good size. The Dragon in question just makes it look tiny because HE is friggen huge. he's easily the same width as the bridge and looks to be about 10 hyurs high. That's big even compared to the big dragons we've fought so far.

And yes, narrower is by comparison. But I was comparing it to the outer part as shown on the artwork above, so it actually is a comparison. How convenient.

The Gates of Judgment take up a large part of the building's rear wall but the building it's self is large enough to station an "Ishgaurdian Legion" in front of for defence. It looks like a very similar design to medieval guard stations that would be put in front of the main gate of Keeps and Palaces in Europe so I'd imagine it's to serve a similar function. Scale is always kinda hard to make in this game any way as size, distance, and time are skewed for game play reasons. The Chocobo ride from Quarry Mill to Camp Tranquil is a several minute sprint or a few minutes via chocobo when that distance in reality should be several days to a week on foot or around a day or two on horseback (Or in this case Chocoback).

All this picture hunting reminds me of Pre-Cataclysm World of Warcraft where everyone wanted to somehow cross the Greymane wall and get a good luck at the half finished area behind it.

The trouble is SE may well entirely remodel the bridge and the city itself when viewed from Coerthas since up until now they were merely scenery.

I still think the blue line across the bridge in the trailer is related to that barrier that covers the city.
