Actually our Job rival was A-Ruhn-Senna since he focused on trying to complete his task alone while his sister trained us until he learned to accept us. Job Rivals certainly take on different forms and sometimes we don't need to directly fight them for them to be considered as Job Rivals.
Bard story is certainly a special case since the theme for Bard's Job story was about how a Veteran Soldier suffers from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and how our character helps him work through it. Due to this theme there was no real need for a Job rival.
Ah that brings back memories of my childhood.
Lex Luthor does have ambition but I see it more as a obssession since he has issues around superman being called a hero by Humanity when he is not even human. Heck they even shown in alternate realities that if Lex never had his hatred for Superman he would have been a good person. Of course those Good Guy Lex Luthor always end up dying for some reason.
David Xanatos, while was a little bit villainly in Gargoyles for a certain amount of time, he certainly would fit more into the category of what the Dark Knight Job Rival can be. He knows his goals but never cross the line when he knows it is going too far. Of course that eventually causes him to turn into a Good guy once he started a family.
