Apparently OP and most of the people in this thread just skip the dialogues and complain about bad writing.
Graha have memories of his ancestors because the last Allagan princess saw the impending fall of her empire and implant her will and memories into his forebearer.
Secondly, he chose to seal off the tower because the NOAH and Cid's team aren't at the stage where they can utilize the tower and the Allagan tech for the good of the realm yet. Why do you think when they said their farewell, Biggs was clamoring about how they will get to surpass the Allagan and come back to wake Graha up?
Lazy readers.

It's an underground lava sewer (where exactly idk) and a tower of stairs to a theater and a terrace. Where exactly is this "technology" exactly? The jump platforms?
Also glad the cat's gone. Game needs less walk n talk characters. <_<
It precisely because I bothered to go back and read through all of Ramnbroes extra dialogue after that I'm lamenting their choice to end the CT story with a reset button. He pretty much outright says that it'll never happen in our lifetimes.
Doing my best to avoid spoilers, this patch's MS felt like an amateur card player discovering they have a good hand and playing it too soon. Sure, for the long-term subscribers it's been three months, but in game, going through the entire quest-line as one continuous story, they chose the worst possible timing for that, which combined with the CT story, sets a rather unfortunate precedent I'm not really looking forward to down the line. I feel as if they're trying to move in a direction they don't really have the finesse to handle, and it worries me, because I do still really want to like this game as a Final Fantasy game, not just an MMO.

I do not feel like it was lazy, per say, but I do feel like it left much to be desired. G'raha went from a cool character to suddenly a so-much-better-than-thou character. I feel like he got really arrogant and failed to share his new knowledge/protection due to his arrogance. I am not sure, that was just what I felt.
I guess we can mock it up as 'character development'

Didn't make sense that G'raha chose to seal the tower, despite the Alagans wanting the tower to be a beacon of light., due to the world being technologically inferior.

I noticed it was part of an odd trend, as they're doing away with characters they introduced mid-story. Doga and Unei going bye-bye was a given (I would have been surprised if they had stuck around), but G'raha and the character from the main storyline? You're supposed to expand the cast as the story progresses, not keep it the same size from one major arc to another...
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

wait, there's a story behind this game?
*before I get blasted that is sarcasm!

The devs have stated that at some point they would like to do something based on Eureka, the Forbidden Land - the secret dungeon hidden underneath the original Crystal Tower. I figured this was the hint to its existence. Also the tower story isn't swept under the rug, Nero's scene foreshadowed that there is a power still hidden within the tower, the beeping at the end suggest that there are still signs of power but that they were only identifiable from where he threw it. While Nero thought the tower no longer had what he needed he was wrong, there is still a power source that he could use and the fact it's left at that means there is definitely more to come.
Part of what was discussed at the very beginning of the story is that the tower presently represents both hope and power to people. Because it's so advanced, those seeking power (Nero, yo) are going to seek to find ways to misuse it. Essentially, while its secrets are now locked off, the tower now represents a 'what if' sort of beacon to people, awaiting the day where assumedly people are ready, deserving, and proven capable with such things.

Far better to what they did to Bahamut... Speaking of lazyness. And yes, lazy end.
