    New Players Gil Guide

    Hi all,

I've made a new players gil guide here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4hvMV6nzvg

    My advice is as follows:
    1) Convert unneeded gear into materia and sell it.
    2) Do not repair gear unless its at 0% condition.
    3) Sell unneeded quest rewards.
    4) Unlock the Challenge Log at level 14.
    5) Finish the main scenario to guide you to level 50.
    6) Do not buy anything from market board or vendors as quests will provide.
    7) Use your retainers to sell items and control your bag space.
    8) Set a minimum gil balance for yourself.
    9) Use the dungeon roulette every day.
    10) Once at level 50 and with some gil start crafting.

The video description is a lot more detailed then what I can post here.

If you have any other way of making gil as a new player let me know. Hope it helps.

I wouldn't recomend this, you risk running into a dungeon or any party situation and having your gear break making you a burden on your party.

Spend the handfull of cash and always keep your gear in top condition please.

It's true, though when I leveled up an alt to 50 recently I rarely got any piece of gear to 20% condition before it was replaced. Guess keep an eye on it.

It's not necessarily bad to start crafting and gathering now as you level, because you can gather your own materials and sell the extra stuff. Although for a new player it may be too overwhelming to keep track of all the crafts and materials.

At least have all 3 gathering classes (no need to level them) and do the gathering section of the Challenge Log, they're extremely simple and can be done quickly.

Stuff like never repairing until the last minute or never buying anything on the market board seems a bit restrictive.

It's not a hardcore economy. Don't starve yourself until 50. At 50 it hardly does anything anyway, it's mostly for just for pets and fashion.

Well if you want a personal house, you do have to work to earn gil, now that good small sized plots are all bought up and you're looking at either bad plots or 10 million plus medium plots.

I have been playing what about 4 months now, tbh it is extremely easy to make gil in this game. I leveled 4 crafts to 50 before my first job class to 50, currently 3 star weaver full artisan hq gear almost max melds and all crafts except alchemy and cooking 50
