I am already level 17 and I was wondering if I can still do the quest if I exceeded the level? Like if I am at level 20 can I still go back to attempt the quest? Ideally I would rather not have it this way as I'd be way behind on the main storyline quest; it'd be better to be able to do Sastasha at my current level, and this is my first attempt doing Sastasha as well. I know others in the replies above have mentioned training another character while waiting but I don't want to be training a bunch of low levels while my main character is still stuck at level 17. You can join a free company at any level. (The Grand Company requires doing a quest, which is gated by a level, but that's another thing entirely). A newplayer friendly FC will help you clear as DPS because they'll have volunteer tanks/healers.

And yes, you can do this quest at any level. If you're high level, it will "sync" your gear down so you don't end up overpowered.

And you can train another class to get in faster - but you don't need another character. Your character can go to the Conjurer guild to train as a healer. A single character can level up all the classes in this game! You can also go to the Marauder or Gladiator guilds to train as a tank.

What I did at first was have a DPS (BLM), but the queue times got to be too long for my liking, so for a while I would do the story quests and side quests on my DPS, but only do dungeons (and dungeon story quests) on my CNJ - same character, just a class switch.

For reference, the guilds for the healer/tank classes are:
    Conjurer-Gridania
    Gladiator-Uldah
    Marauder-Limsa Lominsa
(There is another healer in the game currently but you can't queue with it until it's level 30+ as it's a JOB, not a class, so it's useless for your current situation)

You just go there, accept a quest ( it won't show up on the map, but you will see an NPC with a quest icon). Do the quest to learn, the next quests asks to equip the new weapon, then ta-dah. Your character switched! To switch back, just reequip your weapon for your other class. (You can save your gear set up as gear sets in the Character window)

Thank you so much for your advice!

From your post above, does it means I can train a level 15 CNJ for example and use it to do the Sastasha quest? Does it mean that the quest would be cleared for my character regardless of classes and I don't need to do Satasha anymore even if I train up another new class? (Or do I have to do the Satasha quest for each class I train?)

Sorry about the noob question. I really appreciate your help!

The quest only needs to be done by your character once.

Of course in the future you might want to redo that dungeon on a different class as a way to farm exp or gear or whatever, but as far as that quest goes, once is all you need. Apart from levequests, and other rare repeatable quests, once a quest is done, it's done.

There might also be future quests that will ask you to go back to older dungeons (relic quest for relic weapon requires farming dungeons), but that's a ways off so you won't need to redo Sastasha for a long time, unless you choose to.

That's a relief to know! Thank you so much for your help! I guess I'll take a break from my current class and train up either a tank or healer to clear Sastasha first. Hopefully I won't need to wait too long again.

Thats exactly what I did Masaru, I leveled Conjurer / White Mage just to clear the story quests the first time with a short wait. Up until the 30+ range Healing is incredibly easy, you barely even have to pay attention to it. and who knows unlike me you might even find you enjoy it

I was invited randomly by someone to a Free Company. Not only do they keep a 10% EXP buff on which is great.. They have people to run low dungeons with..

I would highly recommend you find one.. Even if you don't really want one there great for EXP and instances

The 10% combat experience boost is really nice for a first character, and the reduced teleportation costs is great if your FC keeps it up. My FC keeps both up pretty much all the time (except when someone requests something else for a little bit). You can turn off FC chat when you feel like it if you don't want to interact with others all the time - just leech the FC buffs and occasionally bug people for dungeon-running slaves assistants Also, being a low level character with the "new adventurer" icon can result in random people from your FC handing you gil/items just because. There really isn't much of a reason not to be in an FC, except people there being jerks. But, if that happens, just leave and join the next one that comes along. Just don't join an FC, take everything from the Company Chest that you can, and then leave. That gets people pretty upset.

Regarding quests and classes, your character is your character. Your current class's level determines what quests you can turn in or take, and you must be a certain class to do that class's class quests, but that's pretty much it. So, if you do a quest (main story or not) with one class, you've done it and can't do it again (btw, if you want to watch the cutscenes from a quest or dungeon again, you can do so in an Inn room using the Never Ending Journey or whatever it's called). You can switch classes in the middle of a (non-class) quest, and you can take it on one class, do it on another, and then turn it in as a third class if you want to. None of that affects the quest (but keep in mind that the class you turn it in as gets the experience). Heck, you can even use a Fantasia to change your race and gender and the Name Change service to change your name and that won't affect the quests you've done, are doing, or can do.

Your starting class is just that - the class you are when you start the game. It doesn't impose any restrictions on you once you hit level 10 and can freely switch classes.

There's only one thing that is really separate for each class (other than the class quests) - the "first time" bonus on the Guildhest duties. The Guildhests are designed to introduce you to game mechanics like pulling or dealing with adds or dodging AoEs or suffering/curing debuffs or whatnot. The first unlock at level 10 (you have to talk to an NPC, I think, to unlock them), and there are 2 Guildhests for every level multiple of 5 from 10 to 40. You have to do each one to unlock the next one. The first time you do each with a given class, you get a nice exp bonus.

Note that the weekly Challenge Log bonuses are NOT separated by class. So, if you finish a challenge on one class, it's done for the week. If you finish it on a class you didn't want the bonus experience on (or a class that's at 50 already), you lose the bonus experience for that week. So, be sure to check how close you are to challenges before doing dungeons or guildhests (or before you do a crafting binge). If you don't have the Challenge Log (or know what it is), look for the level 17 quest "Rising to the Challenge" in Limsa. It unlocks a new feature that gives you bonus experience and money every week for doing a certain thing a set number of times, like running 5 dungeons or commending 5 people.
