My 2 cents... I agree with Asael, the armoury system makes it so that you can tell what class it is by looking at the weapon. Also I think the way DCUO did it was very good. You can collect armour and every piece has a style. When you collect it you get the style of that piece. Then you can equip whatever style you want (regardless of you having the piece of armour of not at the time of changing styles, all that matters is that you DID collect the style at some point in time prior to changing it). Obviously, ARR is different, but maybe they could have a system kind of like that (obviously making it so that AF/gender/race gear is still only for those jobs/gender/races). However I don't know much about the processes required to make these sort of changes in MMOs, so maybe what I'm thinking is impossible for ARR. XD

When SE announced that they were adding jumping to ARR, the people against it said that if it was added, then the game would be ruined because everyone would be jumping all the time, non-stop, going as far as adding dumbass suggestions like giving it a 2 hour cooldown.

Jumping is here and the game didn't break, it must be a miracle!

OMG HAX! That is clearly a mage-tank combo! Give me the name to report that person who is clearly hacking the game files, unless I'm confused about something! I can't tell!!!!

... I really don't get what's so immersion breaking about someone wanting to wear armor when facing a powerful monster EVEN IF they're a magic user. What, does the use of magic require you to be in a robe or half nude?
Clearly plate armor isn't required for sucking up DMG (Even the game has tank gear that looks like cloth ... so the immersion meter makes no sense as said before).

Agreed 100%. Though I guess the thought has always been that because someone practiced and studied magic all their life, their stamina and constitution is quite poor, so armor would be more of a hindrance than a benefit. But this is a game(of fantasy). if I wanna wear armor, give me armor D:

I'm still personally of the opinion that dye and glamour restrictions(with the exception of weapons for obvious reasons) should be lifted. It only takes targeting the person and paying attention to what weapon is whipped out to know what class they are.

Just because I'm tired of the, "But mages wearing heavy armor will break the world!!" argument. Here's a video for you guys.

Well, Glamours came to the forefront when someone who worked for the press who read these forums saw Buttons' vanity slot thread and decided to ask Yoshida about it in an interview. I'm hoping someone with that same ability sees this thread and decides to bring it up to the developers.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

Stats were bound to your looks and yours looks were bound to your stats, things were immersed per that reason for that reason - for myself.

Naked person kicking my butt was a professional - naked person in FFXIV means nothing.

No armor meant no armor, heavy armor meant high strength - it was immersive because it forced RP elements (imo).

    no thanks

just give us more choices in gear.
SE have gotten super lazy with the gear sets, since.. well Myth i90 gear.

My scholar is not a white and shouldn't have to look like one.

    fix that first.
Oh but tanks who look like they popped into a dungeon straight from a picnic in the woods wearing cute spring dresses and flowery hats, or from the beaches of Costa wearing nothing but a bikini, or from the backstreets of Uld'ah wearing a hooded cowl to mask their identity in some shady business... those are perfectly fine, right? Because that can be done as things are now - it is being done, hell, 4 out of 5 roulettes I do, the tank is one of those. But yeah, Twelve forbid the mages wearing heavy armor.

I don't even see the rationale, tbh, especially beyond 50, where pretty much everyone has all the roles at least unlocked, sooner or later. Especially if they also have the different roles leveled to 50. The person is the same, if they "learnt" how to wear a certain piece of gear, why shouldn't be able to, regardless of the weapon in their hands?

Totally agree with the rest of the post though. Couldn't be more painfully spot-on.

SE, FOR THE LOVE OF THE ASCIANS, DISABLE THIS POINTLESS CHARACTER LIMIT ALREADY.

This is an idea that has been suggested before and it's certainly not bad. I mean the idea that once you get the class to 50 then you can glamour that classes gear on other classes.

Imo, the only acceptable glamour restriction is AF gear. Because that gear is what we think when we think of "black mage" or "warrior". I mean, when I think of a paladin, I don't automatically think of a tank in a Coil gear or poetic gear. I think of the AF armour.
