At the very least push hildebrand to 100% optional content like the moogle mail quests. It was annoying to skip through all those cutscenes to re-unlock trial roulette, twice. Of course, we're likely going to have to suffer through another dozen quests to unlock the golden saucer.

you seem to be forgetting that trial roulette is also completely optional content thus making your argument null and void.
and also Gold Saucer being named "Manderville Gold Saucer" is a pretty big giveaway. it is likely tied to the Hildibraind story and again is something else that is guess what? `GASP!` oh yes that's right completely optional.

See this right here is the reason I can't stand the scions. I don't care how they get to this point. It's not excusable. This is the 2 nd time she's been captured, the trailer already reveals the headquarters gets attack again.

The main scenario's story doesn't make me feel powerful at all, it just makes me feel like I am the only competent person among morons. Seeing this part, her captured again killed the 2.5 trailer for me. Let me let her die or something. I am sick and tired of helping these people, let me go somewhere else and do something. The grand company leaders and the scions don't deserve my help and I wish I had the option to not do anything. That would make it far more interesting than the shitty main scenario is right now.

Clearly even the other NPCs know better than to let this woman out in public without her keepers.

As I've said in another thread, Minfilia changes absolutely nothing in the story line and does nothing (Except whine about how louisoix isn't around to solve her problems) has no "real" purpose to the story except for being a useless plot device, I enjoy characters with development, which she has absolutely none at all.
She's an overused plot device (And boy do I hate the damsel in distress plot device as they tend to be worthless characters)!

I honestly would rather join the Ascians at this point or the Ishgardians.
I don't feel like a hero in the main storyline at all, just an errand boy and it angers me greatly that I have to go and save a useless character that had no purpose until now (And possibly after she is saved, she'll continue being useless).

I HATE characters like this, with a description like "Oh this character has a strong unyielding will, she'll do ANYTHING to help main hero", and then does jack sh*t throughout the entire game.

This is why I love Yuigiri so much. She not only stands as the representative of her people, but she is strong, and reliable. It's a god damn shame she is wasted on the main scenario so far. She and Cid fight along side you, and bring a lot to the table. These two alone have done so much more than any of the other Main scenario NPCs.

Alphinaud also helps, heck he's brought three nations together, created his own GC by using the three city-states' finances and is currently in diplomatic/political negotiations with Ishgard, he's done more than the others (excluding Yugiri and Cid) as well.

I also don't know his age, but he gets irritated way to easy. My example for this is with Aymeric. He kept a cool demeanor and kept leveled voice and explained how he would like to help, but couldn't be cause of his rank. While Alphinaud blew up like a child. Kind of a spit in my face with his remark about us being upset by doing trivial matters, and he goes and does that.

I'll bite since WHS has not responded. It comes down to culture; this quest lines use humor and stereotypes that would make sense to people familiar with Japanese culture. The fact that Godbert walks around with little clothing, there's all that posturing and talk about being a gentleman, etc, could all be construed as homosexual to people who have not experienced it before. Personally, I came across this while reading the Oh My Goddess series, so while I am by far no expert in Japanese culture, I know enough to know Godbert is a sterotype. Maybe someone more immersed in the culture to speak.

Well I just came in to reply to the thread in general, then I see this... and since Alphi's one of my faves, I just have to answer: canon lore says he's 16 - well, if we're about one year later in the story now, that'd make him 17. One of the anniversary stories gave that away. ^^ So yeah, he is, actually, still a child, in many ways.

That aside - I totally agree with OP in that I wouldn't mind not seeing Hildibrand again. Or, heck, I dunno, maybe just trim his appearances/quests a little? Totally in the minority here I suppose, but yeah, while I generally love all kinds of humour... I often feel Hildibrand is just out of place in the game there, and just makes me /facepalm all the time. More annoying than hilarious. (That and the fact that so many people still, after all this time, could not learn to even spell his name properly simply irks me.)

Savage Coil - yeah, that's probably not the best bet to re-allocate resources to, since it's just an isolated content. More rewards there? Definitely no. Devs said the only reason it was put in game was because some players wanted even more challenge, hence the title being the only reward for it. It was also explained that this Savage mode is basically the first, raw version of the dungeon, and the final iteration that makes it into the game is the watered down, edited one... To me, it doesn't sound like it needs more resources to get implemented, they just pop in the original, basically.

What I would not mind seeing instead of Hildibrand though, is for example a bit more insight into the NPCs lives. We work with them, we fight alongside them, we help each other, but we don't really know much about them, we don't have any actual relationship with them. Which is kinda weird. Small sidequests, maybe something like with beast tribes, to build up trust - would be nice to have.
